my microsoft office messed up and it wants me to retyp my pin number is that same as a product key?

yes, after you do that it should start working again, if it doesn't then you may have to reinstall it

If Microsoft Office wanted your product key, it would ask for it specifically by name. Never in my career has office ever asked for a pin number. If I were you, I'd uninstall MS Office, perform a virus and spyware scan, and reinstall MS Office.

Try using the legal CD product key.

Call Microsoft if that doesn't work.
