Are people in the army smarter than people in the Marines?

As a soldier in the army I'd like to say yes, but that would not be true. I happen to know some very intelligent marines, and hold them in high regard. All branches take the same type of test to get into the military. There is no better or smarter branch. Each branch has its good and bad points.

As a wife of a Marine I would say NO & my brother is in the Army. Seriously though No the Army is not smarter then Marine Corps. Just as Marines are not smarter then the Army. However the Marine Corps is trained better (sorry Army) it's true. The Marine Corps is trained in different areas they are trained in amphibious warfare. The Marine Corps can stand alone - they are able to fight by air, land & sea (eagle, globe & anchor).

Considering the fact that the Army will take people that the Air Force, Navy and yes, even the Marines won't take because they scored too low on the ASVAB, I would say Marines are smarter than Army troops.

i see what your saying and when people say that all marines are stupid they are wrong, my uncle had and IQ of 160 (thats a genius IQ) and he was a marine but ive met some really smart people in the army too but there are also dumb people in all 5 services (i honestly didnt know the coast gaurd was an armed service) they are called chefs on step up is the infantry (except the infantry officers they have college degrees)

i was in Camp Perry...port clinton ohio a
and I was a NCO over some Navy, Marines, Army and of course the Marines...
the Marines caused a lot of fights and would not listen to the other services NCO's who were put in charge over them
If you complained to the Marine OIC...they would just smile and say something to the effect that their men did not have to follow the same rules as the other services...
Once a bunch of Marines beat ups a Air Force man and when the Air Police complained to the Marines they were told that if a Marine got beat up by an Air Force or any other branch he would be to ashamed to complain to anybody...so more or less.. the incident was dropped...
such incidents happened here and abroad...but more and more the Marines are being held accountable to thier actions.

Apparently you are unfamiliar with the fact that all members of the Arm Forces are highly intelligent individuals. Training in the five branches differ, but when the chips are down they all work together. Down grading and making derogatory remarks about one branch over another should be left to bar room discussions. You have to remember we are at war, all men and women serving in the military deserve the utmost respect. Grow up!

I work with all branches of the military, I can honestly say that each branch has smart people, but also dumb people. I cna't say one branch is smarter than the other, however, how they do business is a lot different than what I am used to.

I guess that depends on your definition of smart.

If you really want a more solid answer on requirements, look up what the minimum ASVAB (sp?) score is to get into each branch of the military. But bear in mind that regardless of the required scores, people have their own reasons for choosing the branch they choose, so even this is not a real indicator.
