This is a really hard thing to do! You are not alone.
My advice is to go drastic. Clear out your cupboards, your fridge, your counter - everything. Just get rid of the things that are not good for you like chips, cookies, etc. Replace those things with better food such as baby carrots, yogurt, fresh fruit and fresh veggies.
When your body craves sugar, it doesn't really care which source you use. It's up to you to choose wisely. eat a banana instead! You'd be surprised how much you can cure a sweet tooth by eating fresh fruit. That is sugar in its purest form...but the food itself is still good for you. I think your children will benefit greatly from having healthy food in the home too!
Besides going cold turkey with the junk food, get active. I find that if I'm sedetary, I want to eat. If you are up and about, moving, doing light exercise or house work, my mind is hardly ever on food. Exercise is also a great appetite suppressant - and the activity doesn't have to be rigorous.
It will be tough giving up the soda. It has additives, sugars and chemicals that your body not only craves, but needs when you're a heavy drinker over a long period of time. Replacing all of your soda with water is a good suggstion, but it might be hard to do. When you go to the store, only buy a 6 pack of your favorite soda. Throughout the day, drink water and juice. At dinner, if you've stuck to your guns, reward yourself with ONE soda. Keep doing that until you wean yourself off altogether. If you still want the carbonation and fizzies (which are not that good for you), you can find carbonated water at most grocery stores. Eventually you'll want to wean yourself off of that too. Those are just suggestions to help in the transition.
Good luck! :-) I hope that helps.

Drink Green Tea...it's a natural way to help curve your appetite. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat a meal. I don't drink it as much as I like but it really does help with your cravings.

I use to suffer the same problem....

don't eat out as much, it's actually much cheaper to cook at home, and exchange pop for water. if you're not much of a cook, get a crock pot, very little attention is needed, and it's rather easy while you can still have much healthier food

drinking 8-16 oz of water can help curb a craving

Drink lots of water. It fills you up so you feel full and you dont have to eat as often. Also it flushes out your system and helps you lose weight.

see a doctor, you might have diabetes type II.

It causes you to be hungry, no matter how much you eat, and you gain and gain weight. It also makes you very thirsty, and drinking sodas makes it worse.
