Ok, if there is a picture on the internet of a piece of equipment (say, the back of a DVD player to show all the inputs and outputs) would it be possible to cut and paste the picture into a CAD program and have it translate?

Short reason for why I am asking -- I received some schematics for an AV system and am being told (and thus paying for) an outrageous amount of work-hours for it. The schematics are detailed, but I've found photo pictures and detailed drawings that are identical. So I'm wondering -- can you cut and paste?

Oops, doesn't matter that much anymore, since the schematics are just plain wrong.

YES
Copy and paste
but don't worry about translating it
to lines if it's a regular image.
Then scale it to actual size.
Plotting with images might need settings set.

If you want cheaper drawings, tell them what you had in mind.
We tend to get carried away in the smallest details.
