After submitting yourself to Christ, your only purpose is to tell the World who He is.

Yet, many of you agree with non-believers that we shouldn't even do this... that we shouldn't tell people the repucussions of sin... that we shouldn't lead the "lost"...

Noone said we had to be forceful or to judge, but we have been instructed to be disciples for Christ... so that "him that has an ear to ear will hear."

Why do we give in so much, so that we won't be talked about... why do we want to fit in so much?

This applies to some not all Christians.

What are your thoughts?

Excellent question.

In my opinion people are caught up with this "political correctness" (ugh) mentality. Some have forgotten or prefer to over-look our Saviors words as not to look "intolerant" or be called hateful.

Nothing in the world is all peaches and cream or all fluff even though there are those who want to make it so.

Scripture says:

Mat 5:10 Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Regardless of what we say or how we say it, there will be an element who will be insulted towards our stance. That stance is and should always be the will of God and his "ONE" and only Holy word, the Bible.

I am a Christian, 35 yr student of the original Texts; I do not agree with you that my only purpose in life is to tell the World who Christ is, although certainly it is one thing that I do. Understand that God does not send people out to scream on street corners. You should always protect your credibility - nobody will listen to a phanatic, or some crazed up religious nut. Calm down. As a situation presents itself, use the opportunity accordingly. You cannot force God on people, and God does not want you to do that. You can plant a seed, but you have no ability as to whether the seed grows or not, thats Gods job.
If someone asks a question, you answer it with truth from the Word of God. If a person wants to know more, then you supply the information. If they want to speak more with you, and you want to share your personal experience with them, thats great. But understand that those who have eyes to see and ears that hear, will be drawn to ask a question, and if given a truthful answer, will seek to know more.
But some were blinded, whereas you could smack them on the head with your Bible and it won't do any good. We are not commissioned by Christ to go out and preach on streets, bother people while they are having dinner by knocking on their door, or pointing a finger at them telling them how they are hell-bound if they don't repent.
Don't do those things; if you want to be a fisher of men, look at how you fish: do you charge up screaming to the pond, and throw that line in abruptly and then yank that sucker really hard and fast? No, of course not. You fish quietly, gently.
If you do those things you think are right for a Christian to do, I submit to you that you are doing nothing more than making people want to run from you. You are doing a dis-service to God. Think about it. Ease up some.

Yes we should share the Gospel i do but we should reflect Jesus. What i mean is the language we use sadly there are Evangelists who don't in my mind reflect Christ who spread hatred and judgment . Only the Lord can judge for he is pure and righteous we don't have that right . We should spread the word in love and understanding for we are also sinners even though we are saved by the blood. God Bless

Our duty is to profess our faith and lead others to live in Christ.

It is a shame that extremists have made others uneasy in professing their faith, because they do not want to come off as pushy or evangelical.

It is my belief that the best way to lead is by example. Even if you don't want to go around actively trying to convert your peers, you should strive to lead a Christian life and set an excellent example. When we don't push something down someone's throat, but gently show them the blessing we enjoy in Christ's love, this is the most effective way to convince a skeptic that this life is for them.

I can only hope to be more Christ-like and influence those around me to do the same.

I find your tact rhetorical and/or unclear.

You said that "only purpose is to tell the World who He is."

And then you say,"that we shouldn't tell people the repucussions of sin".

I can't be sure that you mean that we have to hammer people for the sins we percieve as many here do, or that we merely cannot answer the questions that have to do with a spcific sin. Telling them the repercussions is good, but not going too far in that we remove ourselves from the message of the Gospel: that we can obtain peace with God through Jesus Christ who washed the sins of those who trust Him away.

If you are one of those people who lead with their chin, then I disagree with you. I mean those that go araound preaching about morals and choices, especially against homosexuality. If you approach people with that then you are not preaching the Gospel.

I think that the center of this subject lies in the workings of the Spirit of God. Some who say they are Christian do not lean on the Spirit of God. They are merely reacting to what they've been taught, and taught not by the truth of the Gospel, but the pet peeve of their pastor or friends or enculturated mindframe.

It is for all of us who begin in faith to continue in faith. To get closer to God than we were yesterday. That does not mean beating people over the head with their sins. That's not the Gospel.

one reason for this is people are not perfect, even christians fall short of God's great glory
if you follow the teachings of Christ he said He would rather you be hot or cold and not luke warm. not all christians are at the same level of maturity in Christ and all do not have the same gifts of the spirit but they do have the same spirit the lives within the heart of the believer

Only purpose? Well, a Christian's purpose is to love The LORD with all their heart, mind and soul and to love their neighbor as themselves.

The Great Commandment of Christ is to go into all the world and preach the gospel and make disciples.

I do these things but don't know what other Christians do. That is between them and The LORD.

I would argue the that, that job has been done, and the non-believers know who Jesus is, they just chose not to believe.

Your master tells you to go to the streets and invite everyone to come to his sons wedding party. So you go into the street and tell everyone that you see that your master is having a great party for his son is getting married. Some people get excited and run to your masters house. while some ignore you, and others ask "who is your master? We don't know him." So you sit down and tell them the story of how great your master is and how his son saved your life. Some of them get up and say "I would love to meet your master" and off to your masters house they go. While some of the people still sit and start to argue with you.
Now the hour is getting late and the wedding is about to start. What do you do? Do you stay and argue with the people on the street, or do you rush back to your masters house to get ready for his sons wedding?

The time for evangelism is over, it is time to go prepare yourself for Gods glory.

The world already knows of christianity & of your beliefs.... it is not necessary to "tell the world".... Telling someone something that they already are aware of after a certain amount of time becomes pressure and that is why REAL christians back off. They know when enough is enough & they know the difference between right & wrong.

The way you talk about "non-believers"..... it's like i'm listening to a nazi speech about taking the world back in the name of christianity.

You want to obsess over how great you think your religion is? Do it with other people who share your beliefs. Nobody else needs to hear how great you think you are & how everyone else who does not believe is wrong & is going to hell.

You have never known all Christians. Thank goodness there are still few who committ their lives to the good work of Jesus Christ. It is ashame that many have allowed the world to contaminate their beliefs, but praise God there are others who haven't. The Bible says if God doesn't shorten the days none will remain. We are all sinners saved by grace, count your blessings that you have the faith and hold fast to it.
