I am 23, have never dated. I am interested in a guy I met recently who although is incredibly outgoing in general, is more girl shy then I am guy shy. He sends very mixed signals however. Most of the time he is very flirty and sweet, and will spend evenings out with friends staring at me like i may disappear, but sometimes he acts like he is waiting for me to attack. A few weeks ago after alot to drink he gave me a quick kiss, which was very out of character for him, and a few days ago when I saw him he made the off hand comment that the only reason he every got with his ex is because she made a move on him, and that he would never make a move on a girl. Also very odd because he never talks about his ex with anyone. I think the comment may have been for my benefit. Would I be out of line to try to make a move on him? And how, exactly, does one make a move? I am crazy about this guy, and really would like the see this go somewhere, but have no idea what I am doing

Also, if I am off base and he is not interested, if I try something, is there a way to play it off so that we can still be friends with out things being overly awkward?

i had the same problem with my guy, who had never dated before. i didn't know if he liked me at first, so i just flirted with him quite a bit, in a way that he knew i liked him but i wasn't so overbearing that he got scared. if you don't mind being in a relationship where you have to take the initiative than just make a move and see how it goes, but if that would be a problem for you than my best advice would be to spend time with him as you can and let him know that you're interested. if things are going well, get into a situation where it's just the two of you alone, make sure he feels relaxed and safe, and just open yourself up so he knows he's free to make the move. if he still doesn't, i would start to make a move on him slowly (like go halfway towards him for a kiss and see if he'll make up the other half). if he doesn't than just kiss him on the cheek or something and let it lie.

I think the best thing to do would be to go for it. if you really like this guy.
from the sound of it he had his heart broke once and doesn't want it to happen again. if you think that good can come from relationship with the two of you then make that move. its a whole new world and it is okay for women to make the first move. but if he doesn't respond then you know your better off friends. I know from experience that if you make the first move and there is nothing that you could look very needy and desperate if you keep pushing. But then again he maybe the type that needs a little pushing.

If you have an occasion to have another drink when he is around - you should just lean forward an kiss him and see what happens. You will probably need to lean forward and kiss him a few times before he gets more agressive.
I would not drink and drive but if you could kiss him in a parked car or out of sight of other people then I think it will work out great.
As you make out he is likely to want to go further so you need to decide how far you are going to go at that meeting.
I would not put out in the first make-out session but you should at least let him feel you up and kiss your boobs. Also stroke his dick through his pants - then break apart and begin to just chat.
The next get-together be prepared to pork his brains out so he gets the picture.

I think you have the situation right, but do you really want to be with a guy who won't make the first move.

Anyway, since you already know him there really isn't anything to it. As him out, just the two of you, and see where it goes from there.

Go for it! Just ask him to grab a bite to eat, or invite him to come by your house and watch a movie!
