Why not? They allow pedophiles to lead church. Hell, they even hide them when they get caught! I have seen some leaders of churches wipe out people's savings account to "better the church".... but not the community.
It's really silly to sit and point out one persons sin and not allow them the same freedoms that all these other Sinners are enjoying - some without concern or accountability to themselves or the people they do these things to.
It has come to the point that the religion itself is appearing very hypocritical... no wonder so many are writing about how the religion will die out.

If according to the bible God could use a wretched sinner like Paul, to teach and inspire others; a man no better than you or I, who even after convering admitted to sinning everyday and called himself a wretched and miserable man because he cannot stop sinning! Go read Romans 7:15 to 25. Why not gay people?
Now if you claim to be truly Christian and a strict follower of the bible, then you know that SIN IS SIN. There is no big sin, medium sin, small sin. All sins have the same penalty! Having same-sex intercourse is no greater a sin than overeating or telling a white lie, cheating on your taxes or gossiping. There is NO relativity! As such, it is impossible NOT to sin in the Christian faith because practically everything you do or don’t do is a sin! That is why Christians have to ask for forgiveness every single day or go to confession regularly if they are Catholic. INCLUDING priests, pastors, reverands and bishops.
He who is without sin, please cast the FIRST STONE please.

i think it would depend on the religion. it wouldn't make sense to turn away a true believer if you're a church based on tolerance and love.
but some religions think that love is only worthwhile if it's toward the opposite sex. in those religions, i don't think a gay priest would make the cut.

I say yes, because who am I to judge.Just because someone is homosexual, does not mean that God doesn't love them and that they can't teach the word of God. Only God can judge, not us. A lot of people consider homosexuality a sin.But who are we to judge the severity of one's "sin" and what they should be allowed to do in society? The bible says that prostitutes will be allowed in heaven.(people who were prostitutes here on earth) According to the bible, prostitution is one of the worst sins that was committed during that time.Maybe I'm wrong,I'm no theology scholar, that's for sure. But I think we should leave judgement to God.Anyone who would like to email me on this matter, please feel free to do so. It just seems to me that by not allowing someone to preach the word of God,based solely on their sexual orientation, just doesn't seem right to me.I'm not trying to cause conflict. I really do want to understand. Peace :)

There is a big difference between a practicing homosexual and a celibate homosexual. If someone is openly gay, and will not remain celibate, they should not be a priest or minister.

Who will be the one to judge who is a homosexual? As long as they are not practicing homosexual acts I see no problem with it. Being gay is not a sin, the act of engaging in homosexual activity is sinful.
God bless,
Stanbo
homosexuality has nothing to do with being a pedophile. Most pedophiles are married, heterosexual males.

LGBT people, both men and women, make wonderful clergy and counselors. There should be no bars for such people who hear a calling from God to pursue this profession.
God loves all of us. He even loves people who preach anti-LGBT bigotry and hatred, although he is very disappointed in such hypocrites.

Since Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God for that life style, I would say the church shouldn't allow it in the priesthood or pastorate.

The church needs to come out of the dark ages & realize that anyone who wants to devote their life to helping others is worthy!

My friend goes to a unitarian church where the preacher is a lesbian. I suppose non-denominational churches allow this.
