No the 'imatation' crab meat is already cooked.
The recipie I use(most of it is to your own taste): Imatation Crab meat,
Mayo (or Miracle Whip), chopped celery, onion, green pepper, mixed together. Add garlic powder, salt and pepper to your taste

Imitation crab meat is ready to use. Are you looking for a pasta crab salad or just a good green salad?
A good green is adding your greens, and basically, anything that you like in a salad:
a couple of chopped green onions, tomatoes, cukes, chopped if you like, add the crab, top with hard cooked egg wedges, some sliced olives if you like them some croutons and dressing on the side.
For a pasta salad, just write me. I have a good one.

This may not be what you are looking for. But as far as I know you do not have to cook the crabmeat before putting in salad.
Crabmeat Salad
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup diced red onion
1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
1/2 cup diced celery
1 pound imitation crab meat, flaked
1/4 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
2/3 cup Italian-style salad dressing
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, combine onion, green pepper, celery and imitation crab meat.
In a separate bowl, mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, salad dressing, lemon juice, oregano, salt and pepper.
Pour the dressing mixture into the crab/vegetable mixture and toss lightly to combine. Cover and chill at least 2 hours before serving.

try mixing it with cream cheese onion powder and chopped scallions, and then folding it in wonton wrappers for crab rangoon. It is a lot easier to make than most people think. For the salad, I just flake it with a fork add salt, pepper, old bay seasoning, a tbs. of mayo and a squeeze of lemon. Chopped onions, scallions or celery are a good addition too. Serve it atop some bibb lettuce or on a grilled hot dog bun like a lobster roll.

No it is ready to serve. The longer that the meat sits in the mayo the better the flavor will be.I like mine with celery bits, lemon juice, tomato, red onion, baby shrimp all on a bed of lettuce...Great for Lunch or Dinner..You can do pasta with all the other ingredients to make it go further.Real mayo sets it off.Happy eating to you.

Okay, imitation crab meat is "cooked" so you can eat it plain if you want. If you want a salad recipe I would try...

You do not have to cook it. The Food Network's website should have a pretty extensive list of recipes:
http://www.foodnetwork.com
You can search for either recipes or just for general information about the topic itself.
