My experience has taught me that the good people in the world always finish last. ie don't get the promotion, don't win the election. Only in the movies does the good guy get the girl.

To get to the top you have to be vindictive, calculating and single minded in your climb up the corporate and policital ladder. Once at the top, your only interest is yourself.

Please tell me I'm mistaken.

Not in the end and that's all that matters, right?

My experience is completely different from yours:

I consider myself as one of the "nice guys", have never been tough or inconsiderate and am certainly not an elbow type.

I have left everyone else in my environment light-years behind me, family wise, lifestyle wise, financially wise and career wise.

I have been elected to a number of prestigious European presidencies and became one of the youngest CEO's in the top 5 Fortune corporations.

And guess what - I only was able to get there because from a certain level on you only get further with diplomacy, manners, tact and people skills.

So, to your comfort, I can assure you: You are mistaken.

I've watched people leap ahead of me by lying about their work experience and even by the time they are (sometimes) found out they have worked maybe for several months with a good company on a great salary and they add that to their list of accomplishments move on up to another company etc...I think they are more devious and in some ways more clever than myself being too honest to present anything but the bald facts, am I jealous?...No!

Their goal is to FINISH with their integrety intact, and they do it very well, being first is not important.
