Lasagna always seems to people like a very complicated thing. I'd try this one. I make this one all the time, and I must say, it makes my italian in-laws VERY annoyed that my lasagna is better!!!! I know it's wrong to be happy about that, but sometimes italian women think they're the only ones who know how to cook. The only thing I change in this recipe to make it mine is a bay leaf and a little extra fennel seed
Believe me, he'll be impressed. Read the reviews and you'll see for yourself. And it's really not that hard. Toughest thing is cooking lasagna noodles, which I do in a big skillet of water, and cook for 6-7 minutes, where they are almost al dente. You don't want them to fall apart. And sprinkle water on them when you're layering them in the dish.
Make this with a good garlic bread or bruschetta recipe. Lasagna isn't too expensive b/c the tomato ingredients are cheap, and the noodles are cheap. The only thing that costs is the cheese and meat.

Here is an easy, inexpensive and impressive dinner.
A 'mock' fillet mignon. which is just a delicious hamburger patty with a thick slice of bacon wrapped around it and cooked in the oven until done. Season your ground beef/sirloin patty with salt, pepper, some garlic powder and a dash of worshchestire sauce. Secure bacon around it and bake....400 degree abt 15 minutes checking it at 5-6.
Mashed potatoes or just a good big baked one, a green salad with the whole works, cherry tomatoes, cukes, spring onions, some spinach leaves etc.etc. and then top it off with chocolate mousse, which is just chocolate pudding and whip into it (after you made it) cool whip or the real thing. Put in a dish and fridge until ready to serve. Top with a dollop of whip cream, a couple of beautiful rasberries and a mint leaf and you are set. A glass of wine, if you are drinkers, or just some apple cider in a beautiful wine glass.
How's that???

I am a big fan of tuna steak. it's a big, meaty fish that can have an amazing taste but it'snot lik ea fish that makes you feel that you're skimping on ingrediants, it fills you up. I've cooked this before:
Tuna steaks with garlic butter and mushroom topping.
Ok, melt some butter in your pan with some crushed garlic. Put the tuna steaks on a baking foil and brush them all over with this. Coat one side or all (you're choice) with fresh breadcrumbs. Take some mushrooms, something different that's on offer at the supermarket, but anything that isn't basic white button mushrooms, you want some flavour to this, and add them chopped to the top layer of breadcrumbs. Check the cooking times but as i remember they take about 20 minutes to cook at about 180 C in the oven. I served this with sweetcorn rice because i was quite poor at the time, but you can do it with some mixed veg, or new potatoes. Only thing to remember is to pour the butter sauce on the foil over the fish after you've dished up.
If you can do something amazing and simple that's great. He'll want something that makes him feel a bit treated, so if a girl was cooking for me I wouldn't want steak and a beer because it seems like she's jsut treating me like any guy and assuming what I like. But if she's put love and effort into it she can't go wrong.

What's great too is that most of the recipes have pics so you can see what it should kind of look like when you're done:

Amazing Ribs
INGREDIENTS:
6 pounds pork baby back ribs
1 pinch black pepper
1 pinch salt
1 pinch crushed red pepper
4 cups barbecue sauce
2 (12 ounce) bottles porter beer, room temperature
DIRECTIONS:
Cut ribs into small portions of 2 or 3 bones each. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Season water a pinch each of salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper to the water. Boil ribs in seasoned water for 20 minutes. Drain, and let the ribs sit for about a half an hour.
Meanwhile, preheat an outdoor grill for high heat.
Lightly coat the ribs with barbecue sauce. Cook the ribs over high heat for a 5 to 10 minutes on each side to get a nice grilled look to them.
Place grilled ribs in a slow cooker. Pour remaining barbecue sauce and one bottle of beer over the ribs; this should cover at least half of the ribs. Cover, and cook on High for 3 hours. Check ribs every hour or so, and add more beer if needed to dilute sauce. Stir to get the ribs on top into the sauce. The ribs are done when the meat is falling off the bone. The ribs were cooked completely in the first process, the rest is about flavor and texture.
Note:
If you add too much beer, the sauce will get very thin. It is best to drink most of the second bottle of beer.

This recipe is for avocado steak...I love avocado steak
4 Scotch fillets (chuck eye) or any other type of steak
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 eggs
3 cups fresh bread crumbs
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 avocado - peeled, pitted and sliced
Mustard Sauce
3 egg yolks
1 tablespoon lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/2 cup butter, diced and softened
DIRECTIONS
Pound the steaks out to 1/2 inch thickness.
Coat steaks lightly with flour seasoned with salt and pepper. Dip steaks into lightly-beaten eggs, then coat with combined breadcrumbs and parsley, pressing on firmly. Place steaks on to tray, and refrigerate until ready to cook.
In a large frying pan, heat 1/4 cup butter and oil over medium-high heat. Cook steaks until golden brown, and cooked to desired doneness. Remove from pan, and keep warm.
In a metal bowl, whisk together egg yolks, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and mustard. Place the bowl over simmering water, and stir until sauce is thick and creamy. Whisk in the remaining 1/2 cup softened butter, and remove from heat.
Place steaks onto serving plates, place two slices of avocado on each steak, and spoon the Mustard Sauce over each one.
