Mormons do consider blacks and other ethnicities as humans. The thing is that they consider(or considered) (according to book of mormons 2 Nephi 5:21) that black skin was a sign of inferiority. The people marked with the black skin where those that didn't choose sides in the battle between good and bad. There are actually many quotes from "Mormon Doctrine" and statments by Apostle Bruce R. McConkie and many other that talk about the difference between races.
Just to give you a quote: "THE NEGROES ARE NOT EQUAL WITH OTHER RACES where the receipt of certain spiritual blessings are concerned, ...but this inequality is not of man's origin. IT IS THE LORD'S DOING, is based on his eternal laws of justice, and grows out of the LACK OF SPIRITUAL VALIANCE OF THOSE CONCERNED IN THEIR FIRST ESTATE "
But there is also some proof that blacks were part of the church and given the priesthood. Latter on they were barred from the priesthood and it wasn't until 1978 that the church president, who they also consider The Prophet, gave a definite ruling allowing blacks to enter the priesthood.
Now, concerning slavery. Some say that it was because of what mormons encounter in Missouri that they dedcided not to get into the slavery issue. But there are many contradictory statements. For example Smith in Doctrines and Covenants once stated that (Covenant 101:79) there shouldn't be slavery, but other times he said that they wouldn't interfere with it.
So, there you go. I hope it helps.

I'd like to know what you are basing your question on? 1800s information and logic? Get your facts straight before you come out, guns blazing on a topic you are obviously naive about.
And for the record, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not discriminate against any ethnicities.

Where did you come up with this? It's not true.
A councilor in my bishopric is from Ghana and he's black... I respect and look up to him more than almost everyone in the ward, because he is a good MAN(human) and he loves our Lord, Jesus Christ.
If the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is so racist... then why are we spread throughout almost the entire world?

In tune to a Sesame Street educational song:
Oh, everyone's a little bit racist.... todaaaaaaaaay.
Oh, everyone's a little bit racist.... okaaaaaaaaaay.
Oh, Ethnic jokes may seem uncouth,
But you laugh out loud cause they're based on truth.

That belief was changed in recent mormon history.
God gave a revelation to one of the later prophets that said, ummmmm sorry I was wrong for the last 100 years, blacks do have value.

Wow, news to me!
Where did you get the idea that we consider ANYONE, no matter what race, as not human? We are not the idiots that bought and sold slaves.

They don't! Where in the world are you getting such tripe and then believe it?
More important, why do you spread such defamatory and pernicious lies about the Mormon Church that you profess? You need serious prayer therapy in your life.
