Cat's can survive very easily outdoors but there are many predators. Hawks, Coyote, fox etc....it depends on your environment.....if the other cats are ok....I do not see why not

He will need time to acclimate to outside. The other cats could be a problem, if they don't like him, or he doesn't like them. Jealously is a BIG issue among cats. They are possessive of their people. I think he will survive, but the real question is will he "thrive"? He can live outside, he has fur and is resourceful ( able to hunt and kill to eat). Adjustment depends on the cat. They are all different. Watch him and see how he does. If he loses a lot of weight, make sure the other cats let him eat. If the barn cats lose weight, you might want to separate him and bring him inside, so they can eat. Look for signs of injury as cats can play meanly with each other. I also wouldn't guarantee he'll stay with you. He could run off... My house cat sneaked outside and was gone for 3 days. She decided to live in a drain pipe instead of warm house, after 71/2 years of being inside! I hope this helps.

My cat was indoor for 1year. And now his out door. At the bigging was really scary for me. I was scared he would get attack or run over. But he hangs by the house all the time. He gets in some fights but nothing big. I feel my cat its more happy now that when he was indoors. Just dont forget to Neuter him before he gots out and have all his shots. And put flee drops those work the best. and dont cut his nails so we would have something to fight back with.

being you had it for 5mths you should let him come indoors and outdoors till he gets used to what are things to watch out for in the wild,,i feed cats like that daily that a indoor cat got put outside and don;t know how to survive in the outdoors...let him get used to the outdoors for a few weeks till you throw him outside with the others ,give him a chance to get used to all the others and to the outside........just cause they are all cats doesn't mean that the barn cats are gonna great him with open arms[paws] LOL

nooooo you can never change a cat from indoor to outdoor or outdooor to indooor its just how they were raised and thats thier habit now thier use to being inside and you know that it is hard enough for humans to break a habit better yet an animal who has probally gone through some trauma because you said you adopted it from a vet and it could have a bad past.

yes it is fine that he is outside.....my sister in law has a declawed cat that live solely in the house for 12 years....when she moved in with her new husband (he has a house on a low trafic road and there arn't any animals around him but deer) she asked a vet if (being declawed and inside 12 years) could she let her cat out.....the vet said yes that cats adjust very quickly and that they actualy fight with they're back claws....her cat climbs trees and runs around fine....she is 15 now and is doing grate being an indoor/outdoor cat.......
