I love it.
The recipe of fried tofu (Atsuage:厚揚げ) is
1. Put a whole block of Tofu on a strainer covered with paper towel. On top of the towel put something weighing approximately two medium size dishes. Wait until drain off for 30 minutes. And then cut it into 2 inch thick pieces.
In a large deep skillet, heat 2 inch deep oil to 360 degrees F.
Cook the Tofu in oil for about 2minute or until outside is golden brown. Inside should remain unchanged. Drain the Tofu on paper towel.

FRIED TOFU
2 blocks tofu
3/4 c. tapioca starch
Oil for deep-frying
Salt to taste
Hoisin sauce
Coriander or chopped green onions for garnish
Cut tofu into blocks 1 x 1 x 2 inches. Dredge each piece into tapioca starch until all surfaces are covered thoroughly. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes. Deep-fry 3 to 4 minutes at high heat until each piece is about 3/4 done. Remove and drain on a rack or paper toweling. Just before serving, repeat dredging and deep-frying steps, only frying the pieces until golden brown and crispy. Salt lightly. Slit each piece lengthwise and put Hoisin sauce into each slit to taste. Garnish with coriander or green onions and serve.

Tofu has that is own style, and texture. that is surely unlike rooster, plenty extra of a continuing gentle texture. There are distinctive tiers of firmness for tofu which could be useful counting on what you should do with it. how that is packaged may additionally impact this. some tofu has extra of a silky texture, others are extra pourous. To get extra of a company/chewy texture out of tofu, and make it take in flavors extra effective, i might propose baking a company or extra company tofu at approximately 350 for a on an identical time as (unsure for a time, I verify on it oftentimes) first, this gets the moisture out, and we could it take in different drinks. different human beings purely squeeze the water out with a paper towel, or freeze it with a heavy merchandise on precise to make it extra like seitan. All have the comparable straightforward objective. while you're searching for for some thing quite much less processed then pretend rooster, yet vegetarian, you should to check out seitan, that is created from wheat gluten and has extra of that fibrous texture and meaty style you're searching for for. that is relatively solid in stews, pot pies, and barbecues, issues with sauces relatively.

I like tofu. Fried is good. Try it in a stir fry or just look for some recipes on-line. It is a light taste so many people say it tastes like nothing so don't overpower the taste with a lot of condiments/sauces etc.

Hi there. I have eaton Tofu for many ears...it can be prepared in various ways. Buy the extra firm tofu. Rinse it, cut into small cubes. You can marinate in any kind of sauce you want...it is like a sponge...very boring and bland until you season. I will put olive oil, sesame seed oil, soy sauce, garlic, or chinese marinade of any kind, or miso, or thai paste, curry, cumin...whatever you like....then put the tofu in the frying pan and brown it...the you can throw in to a wok, for example, with veggies of any kind for a great stir fry.

here's different recipes you can try:
Step 1
-Pat dry the tofu in paper towels, then cut into 1 inch cubes
-deep fry in sunflower oil til golden brown on both side, put in a plate lined with paper towel to absorb extra fat. Set aside
Recipe 1
add the fried tofu (see step 1) in a bowl w/ water cress, sliced tomato, sliced boiled egg, 1 tsp. balsamic vinegar or 1 tsp. lemon juice, and considerable amount of olive oil. Season with salt & pepper. Toss and serve.
Recipe 2
Stir fry sugar snap peas in garlic and cooking oil, add in 2-3 tablespoon of soya sauce, cook for 2 minutes. Add in the fried tofu and season with a pinch of ground blackpepper, cook for another 3 minutes. Serve while hot.
(Cooking tip: you can use any vegetable u prefer. Cooking time depends on how thick u slice your veg and how u want them, I prefer half-cooked veg. You can also add meat if u like. Just brown the meat first, then add the veg and tofu (step 1) then voila, serve with boiled rice! yum!)

make you some hot and sour soup and slice the tofu into little cubes, or you can put a little egg wash on them and lightly fry them. Be sure to drain your tofu. I put a plate with something of weight on top of my tofu and let the water drain from it.

Tofu is OK but it tends to only taste like whatever your cook it with. High in fat but good on protine. Add it in as a way to streach your main meat in a dish as when fried up is good.
