My son has been potty trained since he was two, but now i want to know how do i make the transition from sitting to standing. I've had my dad take him to the bathroom with him when he is at their house, but when he gets home he doesn't want to stand. He wants to sit!
I am a single mother and I have been told that since it's just me and him, he will continue to imitate me. I don't let him come in with me anymore, so how do i stop him from imitating me? Please help! I'm open for any good suggestions. Thank you in advance!!

Thank you all for your suggestions (some of them the coffee can, i don't know about that, I am from Mississppi but..). The peter potty is a little expensive at $38 ( i also checked out the weeman potty urinal but i don't know about that either), so I think I will go the cheaper route and give the cheerios a try this week( i don't know what to do with the shaving cream!?). If it doesn't work, then I won't worry about it because he isn't peeing his clothes and it really is less mess!!
Again thanks!

I'm not sure what the urgency is to have him stand to pee. It's not wrong, or bad and he will soon pee like his friends once he is in school. In his school there will be urinals and toilets that are the right size for him. All others are too big for your little guy!
My son is just starting to toilet train, and spends most of his time with me. He can pee sitting for as long as he wants! But I do understand that each child is different, and every parent worries about different things.
That being said, for my nephews, we used a variation on the cheerio, we took one square of toilet paper and told them to "sink the boat"!

I wouldn't worry about that now. My son was closer to 4 before he started peeing standing up. Mainly because before that he was too short to stand and get it in the toilet, and his aim was horrible (well, its not much better but thats another story). Its totally fine to have him pee sitting down.

Usually the best way to have him start is having him do it outside first. He'll see friends, etc start doing that and he'll imitate that real fast. Don't worry about it!

The cheerios thing works pretty well. Also they just came out with these new pee targets. I am not sure where they sell them. Probably walmart or target. but it is just a round peice of paper you lay on top of the water in the toilet and it has a hole in the center tell him its a game and to aim for the hole. everytime he goes standing up give him a treat or just clap and celebrate and make a big deal out of it so he will continue. The pee targets are toilet friendly and flush like toilet paper. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Put a coulpe of cheerios in the toilet. Have him to aim his pee at the cheerios while standing. I thought it was wierd at first but it worked for me. Soon he will want to stand allt he time and not sit.

Throw some cheerios in the toilet and have him "shoot the targets"

That's what my mom did with my brothers.
Shaving cream also works.

You could try putting cheerios in the toilet and let him see if he can "shoot" them. You could also let him "water" a tree or bush as long as your neighbors arent very close.
