In the story about Mary and Martha and how Mary sat and listened to Jesus and Martha was up, busy preparing the meal and trying to be productive, which would you be? If Christ visited you, would you be a Mary or a Martha?

GLSigma3, I agree there is much more to the story than what I included.
Even now I think women get it a lot easier than men do.

Cupid - Get over it. Yes I'm LDS/Mormon. You're not. So? What does that have to do with my question?

My dear Jesus would have to satisfy himself
with a few grapes,
cheese and crackers
wine or water,
'cause I'm a Mary for sure.
The dishes would be piled up in the sink,
the beds unmade,
the newspaper outside in the rain!
All that can absolutely wait
As they aren't going anywhere!!!
How long will Jesus be there???
One thing is for sure, sure, sure...
As long as the greatest teacher is under my roof,
it itself could cave in,
I'm not moving from his feet,
with my eyes and ears glued to his every word.
No one ever asked me that question before.
Thanks for the beautiful picture you set before me!!!
It kind of makes my day!!!

Although I am male, I understand your question. I frequently feel the need to keep things clean, orderly, and precise and would want the house to look ok if the Savior were visiting. I would be "a Martha" up until the time he came to visit. After his arrival, however, I would be "a Mary" in that I would want to hear and listen to every word he spoke....

Actually Mary did more than sit and listen to Jesus, she anointed his feet with oil. This was big. She recognized him as the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed one. Martha also recognized Jesus as the Son of God when Jesus raised her brother Lazarus from the dead. Both of them got it, and understood who Jesus was, and what he was capable of. The women got it, the men didn't.

But to actually answer your question, I'd want to be a Mary. In actuality, I'd probably be a Martha.

I'd be Martha but I would change my name to Mary just b/c I'm not a fan of the name Martha.

I must admit I'm a Mary. Let the dust bunnies accumulate -- I'd rather read the Bible or study theological texts.

I'd still be a creatrix, but it would depend upon what needed to be done. I'd blow off the vacuuming to hang with JC, but if it was 10:30 at night on April 14th, I might try to do my taxes while we were shooting the breeze.

I'd try to be Mary. That was to show us that being too busy or eager to please sometimes means that you allow the important parts of life to fall away

I would be listening to Jesus.....

Nothing more productive than learning God's word right from the mouth of God Himself.
