The problem with nutrisystem is that it ships you the dry goods, but not the meats and poultry, those you have to buy and cook yourself. At that point, you might as well either buy lean cuisine in the freezer section or look for healthy recipes on line and only cook those.
Also, any diet will be more effective with a regular exercise routine, jogging and what not. Work out, eat less, lose weight.

Any diet that restricts the numbers of calories you intake will work. The difficult part is not finding a program that will "work", but finding a program that works best for you.
Nutrisystem is expensive and not realistic for someone with a family (you would be spending approx. $300 a month just on your food PLUS your grocery shopping for your family). If finanaces aren't a problem, think about how many times a month you go out to eat because you can no longer dine out on this program.
The biggest thing to think about is the future, and what is going to happen when you lose the weight. Nutrisystem goes by calories and the glycemic index; if you don't understand how these two correlate with weight loss, there is a great chance you will gain the weight back.
That said, I tell everyone that weight watchers is the best program because it truly is. You can eat what you want, when you want, you can "cheat", they have prepacked meals when you're low on time, AND you have the option of sitting in weekly support group meetings. The program is cheap, has worked for millions of people and provides structure and flexibility all in the same program.
Check out their website, see if this sounds more reasonable: http://www.weightwatchers.com/index.aspx
Best of Luck!

a woman i know was doin it and either she didn't have the will power or the food jus wasn't enough, but she'd often eat more food than what was given to her. a girlfriend of mine told me about medifast, it's like nutrisystem only much older and not as hyped up as nutrisystem. she told me that the only hard part about it was not drinkin alcohol when her other friends wanted to party. she's been on it for 6 weeks and has lost 20lbs. whatever you do read into it as much as you can. i hope the links below are helpful. good luck to you~!

how could it not?
the meals are soooo small
for breakfast u have a bar the size of an quaker oatmeal bar, for lunch soup (the size of a chef boyardi size cup), snack is soy crisps or another bar (size of a small vendor bag from machines), supper is a little microwave meal (the size of half a lean cuisine meal)
most of food is soy or tofu based....so even the meat doesnt contain the fat is usually would.
ur calorie intake is around 1000, so even if u dont exercise u are guaranteed to lose weight. (u typically need anywhere from 1500-2000 calories a day to maintain weight) 1 lb of weight is 3500 calories...so u see where im going.
my suggestion is to follow the plan i set from above instead of investing 200-300 dollars a month to get these meals in a box.

Anything where you cut your calories that much is going to have results. If you eat larger portions and unhealthy food now it will be drastic, but if you already healthy then no, it's all about caloric intake. If you go from alot to a little you're gonna loose weight. But be careful because the minute you stop watching those calories the weight will come back really fast.
