My fiance wants a beach wedding and her brother is a pastor and said that he would do it for free. All he needs is a car for when he flies down here from Michigan and I don't have one. Mine is in the shop and won't be done for a while. I think that a simple court wedding would be cheaper and less stressful, but she insists that she wants a beach wedding with all the family there. I just want something quick and easy. What do you think? Can you help us out? We are consistantly arguing about this.

You are getting MARRIED!

You should have worked out the way your relationship works by now. If the two of you can't see each other's needs and perspectives and make a mutual decision, you shouldn't be getting married.

Marriage is about family and not about either one of you. Yes, it is the 2 of you getting married, but the marriage is moreso about the joining of both families. They need to be there. You don't get a do over later in life and you'll regret blowing your wifes wedding day, that is if you genuinely love her and want to work together to live your dreams.

right now it don't sound like either of you understand what marriage is.

Can you tell me where "here" is? He's coming from Michigan and you guys are getting married on what beach? I'm confused, why can't you rent the brother a car for his stay here? But seriously, it may be cheaper to tell him to come as a guest and rent a minister for the ceremony - some will do it without your being a member of their church and their donation is between $50 - $75 - cheaper than renting a car for a few days. I really don't see the problem and why you want to go to the JP instead of doing the beach thing. If it's money, then go to the JP and have the ceremony and then a picnic on the beach. Or have the beach wedding a year later after you've saved money. I wouldn't choose to go to the JP for money alone, there are ways to have a nice ceremony using a little money, you just have to be creative. Good luck.

Speaking from a woman's point of view I would suggest the beach wedding. Us girls plan our weddings from the earliest age. We want everything to be perfect. Also having the family there is important. You can always rent a car for the pastor, he would be doing the ceremony for free after all. This is an important day in both of your lives and it should be special. A court wedding is not really special and it won't be something that you remember as amazing.

Dude, let her have the beach wedding. Rent the guy a car for the weekend. It'll cost you no more than $200. Look at it this way, your meeting in the middle, she wants a wedding you don't. Your having a simple beach wedding. After that you can have a bbq or something of the sort.

I understand your desire for something quick and easy. That being said this is a special occasion and girls dream of their wedding their entire life. Just go the extra mile and give her the beach wedding.... better to do it and be annoyed than to not do it and have her regret it. If I were her I would feel that you just wanted to "get it over with" and no bride wants to feel that way.

FYI: Compared to marriage, the wedding is the easy part. You two had better stop arguing and compromise or it's going to be a VERY long marriage. (And not in the good way)

Stop arguing and let you future wife have her wedding day. It the lady's day and she will cast it up to you or she will praise you for the rest of you life. I've been married for 29 years take my advice rent her brother a car and give your woman what she wants. It may seem like a big price but the alternative of a quiet wedding will cost you way more in the long run. Good luck - and do the right thing.

Ok I'm gonna let you know a wedding for the woman is the most important day in her life besides becoming a mom.... Girls have this planned out from the time they are little I mean down to the last detail... So she wants a beach wedding... lets say you dont have your beach wedding and you go to the court house... I'm gonna tell you she is gonna regret it for the rest of her life... and I know to alot of men it is no big deal but trust me to her it is VERY IMPORTANT....She will act like it does not bother her but turst me she is gonna have it in the back of her head... When she looks at pictures of that day it is not gonna be what she wanted...Well good luck and I hope all goes well with you 2....

compromise is the key to this explain to her that theres a high chance that your brother the pastor would not be able to make it down here so if we had a large wedding on the beach then if we have no pastor you would have to find another one probably in short time. Smaller court wedding=cheap and easy to do Big Beach Wedding would = Complicated and chance for screw ups. But in the end all that matters is she will have your last name and you shale be married for eternal bliss.

I think that if that's want she wants you should give it too her. A women thinks about her wedding day since she is a little girl. Honor her with the respect of having a nice wedding, with her family and her brother as a Pastor. Come on guy . . . getting married in a court house. So not special.

well stop arguing about it. Men just want to get it done. But you need to consider that a girl dreams of that special moment from the time that she is two. We are innundated with Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc. We are taught to dream about that prince whisking us off. A court wedding is the least romantic thing on the face of the earth. I've been married twice before, and I wouldn't do a court wedding. I wouldn't have a big wedding either.

Just let her have her day. I think you will be pleased as well.

A wedding is really important to a woman. If she wants a beach wedding, why not go for it? Beach weddings are usually simple - it's not like she wants a huge church wedding. A court wedding....do you mean like a justice oif the peace? Because that isn't memorable like a real wedding would be.
