Police are ever-increasingly better trained and policed more and more. Most political subdivisions have ethics committees that do nothing but look for police and political corruption and ethical violations. Police departments and individuals are more civilly and criminally liable now than ever before. More and more corrupt police officers are being weeded out as a result of this. These cases are highly publicized and therefore more in the public eye than ever before. This is a good thing. In short, I think police today are more ethical than ten years ago, and police ten years from now will be more ethical than police today. There will always be some individuals that are unethical, that can not be totally eliminated, but they will be exposed more and more.

I believe they are in truth about the same but we hear more about it today because of technology and instant available 24 hour news service. Personally, I don't think most of them are ethical because they have a power trip.
