None of it matters as long as you accept god. Why not do things to hasten your death so you can get to Heaven faster?

Why don't you just eat cheeseburgers all day and smoke Luckys with no filter.

If it were up to me....I'd die tonight.
But I have a purpose here....to spread His good news.

Well, hastening your death probably counts as a form of suicide. It's almost a philosophical question. Is slitting your wrists or ingesting poison committing suicide? Yes. Then... is eating high saturated fat, vein clogging, heart attack inducing cheeseburgers everyday committing suicide? In the long term, probably. But I think the key is as much about intention as it is about the action. So if you're trying to end your life sooner and at your own hands, it counts as suicide. And for Catholics, suicide is a big no-no.

Christians understand that we're here to glorify God, worship Him and spread the Gospel. You know, the whole bringing His kingdom to the world thing. Going to Heaven is a bonus, but not the purpose for belief. If Heaven was the purpose, once we've gained access, nothing else matters. Then, it would make sense for many Christians to question why bother to get up in the morning?

Christians don't give up their lives when they become believers. Well, they do in the biblical sense, but not in the world sense. This means, Christians don't throw away their identity and become mindless zombies. It is instead, like putting on a pair of glasses with a different shade than what we're used to. You are still you, except you see the world in a different color. This means you still have goals, ambitions, dreams and things you want to accomplish. The major difference is you see the world differently than people who believe other things. Sure, you got your golden ticket to Heaven, but like everyone else, you still have your life to live.

Christians have to work just like everyone else, some even doing the work of God.

Why would I hasten my death to get to heaven faster? Sure life has had some major pot-holes in it, but somethings I would not trade for anything in the world.

If I hasten death than I miss out on a lot of wonderful blessings and opportunities that God has in store for me here on earth.

Seriously, I just got done telling the other dude questioning about why atheists get up...STOP generalizing everyone. Life is a gift from God (whether everyone believes it or not) and is meant to be enjoyed. No one should be hastening death. You live life to the best of your ability. Accepting God doesn't guarantee you a ticket to Heaven, you also must ask for forgiveness for your sins. Technically, since I am in school full time right now, I don't have to get up in the morning. But I believe God works through people on here just like anywhere else to get his message out. There are so many non-believers out here who say they don't believe but worry about what God thinks and feels and about Hell. That tells me, they have Him tugging at their hearts. They just need the encouragement to take the next step and accept Him and ask for forgiveness. I believe you are one of them since you believe there is a Heaven for us to get to! God loves you and so do all the Christian people! Let him in and you will be a happier person! He takes away the need to pick on any group!

I get up because my kids wake me up. ;) Hastening your own death is looked at as suicide, which is murder, which is wrong, so when you die you will have the punishment to worry about. It's better to just live your life and go when God calls you home. Oh.. and I don't smoke, so that wouldn't work for me, and cheeseburgers get old fast!! And since I don't have a gall bladder anymore, they make me pretty sick, so I don't like to eat them. Oh!!! Why do you get up in the morning??

Sometimes I get up at night . . . . is that okay?

I saw a similar question aimed at Athiests, I almost chuckled. But then, I guess it was a rather crass question to ask.

EDIT: By the way, I do smoke cigarettes. I don't smoke non filtered cigarettes. I want to keep the experience enjoyable after all! ( cheeseburgers are good too.)

What? Where to begin with this one.
How bout this. I get up because I am one of those stinkers who absolutely loves the morning. Yup that's me, the one who wakes up singing ready to take in the day with all the life and joy God has given me. (Warning a verse is about to be printed, those who are offended may quit reading.)
"This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it!"
Is it okay if I ignore most of your question?

Man! I get a kick out of life

I wanta go to place called heaven
a place where His glory there, we will share
where the streets of gold and the sun shines brightly
and the cool wind blows
where we can sing His praise everyday

The Church dealt with that question centuries ago. The Bible specifically does not address suicide, but to keep Christianity from snuffing itself out, Church Elders condemned it. From all the "Good News" thusly spread- like the Inquisition, Crusades, abortion clinic and mosque bombings, declaration of Native Americans as "heretics" (justifying the genocide to come), the "Good News" apparently involves a lot of dead bodies.

Life is a precious gift, and we (Christians) feel that we should do all we can with the time we're given. Trying to speed up your death would be greedy, and ultimately, Christianity is all about helping others, so taking salvation for yourself before your time is against it.

That's quite a turn-around. The believer has everything to live for. God-created wonders are everywhere you look and one lifetime is too short to enjoy them all. When I die, I will join Him in heaven. I love life and I don't fear death.
