How do I ask her? I know she'll say yes, because my older sister started at 10, but I just don't know how to ask her. I'll be 13 in a month, and all my friends do, and sometimes they joke about me not shaving (not being mean, but laughing). I know it's not a big deal to ask my mom, but I just can't seem to do it! Any tips on asking?

The hair is noticeable - especially the armpits - the armpits hair is about and inch long!!:-D

My daughter is 12 and just started shaving 6 months ago. One day she was in the shower and yelled for me. I went into the bathroom and she said "Mom, can you show me how to shave my legs. It's time, don't you think?" I said "yes, you're definitely old enough, sure I'll show you."
It was no big deal. simple and easy.

You shaving your legs to your mother is a step in your development that a lot of parents don't like to accept. It means that there have been biological changes and that you are becoming a woman. Now if that is not the case maybe she is aprehensive on why exactly you need to shave them... if the haid is not noticable then why worry about it. I hope that there is not anyone in your life that is going to be feeling your legs as sucha young age. Anyway.. I would just tell her that your friends have made some comments and that you want to shave them. Tell her that it helps with cleanliness.

I could be missing my mark, but did you ever consider that your mom might be thinking you aren't ready to start shaving because you haven't said anything? Just ask her! You kids make everything to be this big drama! Mom, I'll be 13 soon. Do you have a problem with me starting to shave yet? I think I'm old enough.

Your mom sounds approachable, why not just say, the next time she is out shopping would she mind picking you up a razor as you feel you would like to start shaving, she will take the lead from there, good luck to you

well ask mom to but you some razors at the store.a young Lady your age needs to start shaving.My Daughter started to shave when she was 13 .Explain also that your friends are making fun of you for having hairy legs and armpits.Until you can shave I would not wear shorts.Good Luck

Just ask her....or just start shaving. I never really asked. I just started shaving when I was about 11. Next time your at wal-mart just pick up a razor. Just be like....I want to buy this and hold it up.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are “permanent” hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

I remember asking at 12, but can't really remember how I did it. Just straight out ask her, telling her you think it's time. Or maybe your sis could be a go-between and ask for you? It could be that your mom is just waiting for you to bring it up.

Why do you have to ask? Just do it. You are old enough to know if you need to shave or not! However, it's a real pain once you start!

Try an indirect approach, ask her what kind of razor she would suggest, does she like disposables or what? Then ask her to get you some. Like its no big deal.
