My 4 month old puppy will carry on conversations with me, till I figure out what it is she's trying to tell me. I'll ask her tons of questions, and she will answer me until I ask the right question, then gives me a better response. It's a series of whines, howls and barks that she does. It's soooo cute! lol

But, she also has a unique way of telling me that I've forgotten something. For example, she will sit in the living room, when it's bedtime to signal that I'd forgot her treat, to shut something off, or something like that. If only she could remind me to fix the coffee before bed..... lol
Tell me how your pooch talks... And I don't mean the one's who can say "mamma" lol
Thanks for your answers!
;o)

My dog has the ability to ''mind meld'' like Spock on Star Trek. After 13 odd years we both pretty much know what to expect from each other. Dogs really like routine. For example mine walks down the the road and pisses on the same spots everyday. First he looks east to see if his girl friend is out, it is just a quick sniff for his Springer babe. When he gets back he taps on the door, has breakfast and then a bowl of water. Summer is almost here and then swimming becomes a main event with or without his friends. He has plenty of friends where ever he goes. He only barks for bears and if we forget about him at night.

My G.Shephard could tell us what was in the yard by her different sounds. The calmest was a mouse, the most frantic was a squirrel, the authoritive/po'd barks were for cats or unknown humans.
She could tell us what snack she wanted with chortles. By varying the pitch and duration she told us "I want a rawhide chew", or "milkbone" or "Beggin' Strip." This before actually seeing the offerings.
"Conversations" were limited to her answering questions. She knew she could make choices from a verbal list offered to her. Sometimes she uses sounds but mostly she'd indicate a selection with body language.

My dog is part human I swear I can tell him in a regular voice just about any command and he does it. If he's under my feet in the kitchen I can say watch out Bud and he moves. If he needs something he will come to me and I'll go through the questions and when I hit the right one he'll bark. You have a really smart dog consider yourself lucky.

My dog, Zeus, "talks" to me. He'll bark when he wants out, which is always at the exact times he's supposed to go out, he'll bark and whine at the closet where we have his food when he wants to be fed which, again, is always at the usual time he gets fed and he'll nudge my arm and lick my hand when he wants attention. I think the majority of dogs and even cats have their own way of communicating to us what they need and want, they also seem to have a fairly decent concept of time. As I stated, my dog always knows when it's time to go for a walk or get fed. He also has no problem reminding me to give him a treat after he does something right.

Only one of my dogs talks to me, the only female.

She opens and closes her mouth and it kind of sounds like a deep whining sound. It's really funny and cute, but I have NO idea what she's trying to tell me.

When I get home every day, my dog will whine and squeak and wriggle and carry on, telling me she's glad to see me. I don't know what I'd do without her.
