The local post office should have "Change of Address" forms that you can fill out, however there really is no way to expedite the process. It can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the speed of the post office.
I'm assuming you're moving to a different house. If you're simply going on vacation you should tell your friends where you are going and ask the post office to hold your mail. If you're going on an extended vacation (6 months or so) you can ask the post office to hold your mail.
You should just go to the local post office and talk to the clerks, basically.

This however will cost you a $1 charged to a credit/debit card, but is instant. If you do not have a credit card you can go to your local post office and pick up a change of address packet for free.
