The role of government is to deal with the truth as it is. The people often don't have the capacity to deal objectively with the truth in extreme situations so it can be surpressed. They own the media so what you get is what you've got, unless you're an eye witness.
The pure intentions of politicians come secondary to what is required to keep the country stable. Gandhi for all his insightful knowledge was seen as idealistic in the real world. It is correct, it just doesn't work.

Who are our leaders now ? All criminals and goons who had survived on untruth and mischief. How can you expect any good out of them? They have come with one point agenda only , to rob and plunder us. Through our ages of domination and our philosophy of acceptance , anybody and every body can rule over us . They need not be good rulers , but power hungry people . Actually the concept of non violence had done more harm to us than good. It is told in our scriptures that whoever accepts untruth and falsity is also a sinner . So we are all sinners living in this sinful world . A revolution to completely change the whole society will only liberate us.

To the contrary, they are decietful and underhanded. (They have a form of Godly devotion, but prove false to its power.) It is to their best interests to appear to be christian, it catches duped people like flies. Their "Standard" is Democracy. Democracy cries - Peace - and Security - when there is no peace! They "Seduce" the nations with promises, perks, and material candy, to get the vote. They "sweep" the house clean, and bring in seven more evil "spirits", so that it is worse off than before. They are supposed to be public SERVANTS, you know, minister of this, and minister of that. Their term is 3 1/2 years, like the 3 1/2 times in Revelation. Everything is not as it appears. They have made a deal with the underworld, or their Father, the "Devil".

It is a common and now absurd question. A person who is truthful can not be a leader. Deception, untruthfulness and fake promises, adultery and all sins and offenses are the main characteristics required for becoming a leader.

The definition for truth depends on various factors.I will tell you a small example from TRUKKURAL.
"If one's speech does not wrong any living creature,
while being factually correct, that is truthfulness".The acid of truth for right conduct is its essential harmlessness.Leaders May be truth in their thoughts but they may not be allowed to act according to their thoughts by the circumstances. Thanks for the good question.

Unfortunately, Mahtama was rarely faithful to his speech and actions;as such this summation could not be true reflections of character. On the one hand his comrades were bribing the britishers against muslim interests on the other hand they were begging unity with muslims. The result was biggest massacre of muslims in Indo Pakistan subcontinent.

Amazing.
I think you have point though.
I don't know of any politician who is truth full, do you.
i also think political correctness is making grey robots out of all of us.
What ever happened to spontaneity and fun?
I think its all a grey sludge that is beginning to cover everything.

Truthfulness is anathema to politicians. While reviling at the politicians, let us ask ourselves as to how many of us, are really truthful. All of us are culprits.

Because politics dictates that the person says what he/she thinks the public wants to hear... We don't put good things on the news because the public likes the dirty laundry...
