About a year ago I got a schizophrenic psychosis, which was well-treated, so that I hardly have any effects of it now. However, I had to interrupt the year of practical training within my O.T. studies.

Starting again in May I am undecided now as to whether I should tell the employers in the next bit of practical training about what has happened. The tutors in charge at my college know about it.

What do you think?

I'm diagnosed with bi-polar psychosis and I would NOT tell an employer the specifics at all.

If you want to tell anything, you could say that you had a medical situation that needed attention.

That's nice that the tutors were so accepting about it-- but I have had very negative reactions when I have confided in people about my condition with psychosis.

I wouldn't want you to jeopardize your employment over this issue-- especially because it is now under control.

In principle as a nice and true person you shouldn't hide this from your employers. It's like any kind of sickness and you had your treatment. BUT, I think you should really think about your employers' reaction. Do you know them personally? Can you guess what their reaction will be? I believe that no healthy relationship (even the employer-employee one) can be formed based on lies. If you don't tell anything now and they find later then nobody will believe that you are completely cured just because you hide it.
