It depends on which machine you're talking about. Some of them are more benificial than others. Some of them are basically just scams.
The sauna belt is mainly a scam. It does burn away water weight quickly, but it's actual effect on fat loss is minimal, at best.
It's very simple: If you want a six pack, you must work your abs out. Machine or not. Easier is NOT usually better when it comes to working out.
First off, if you have fat covering that six back, you have to burn it off. You can only burn fat by burning more calories than you consume. Ab workouts will tone up the muscles under the fat, but the fat will remain. You cannot spot reduce fat. The order that fat goes on your body (Ie if you add to gut first, then thights, then butt, for example) is the reverse order that it comes back off (Comes off the butt, then thighs, then gut, in the above scenerio).
Excercise and diet are the only true ways to lose fat. There's no magical pills, or secret diets that do the trick. Those things might "help", but the bottom line is you have to do the rest of the work to get the job done.
Ab rollers and crunch machines and other such devices will help you tone up your abs, but only if they're actually working the abdominal muscles, and then you have to consider if they're working upper, lower, and obliques as well, or just targeting upper abs as many devices do.
Good old fashioned crunches, leg lifts, flutter kicks, sit-ups, and oblique lifts/rotations are still probably the best means to work up a six pack fast. Unfortunately these excercises are boring, even somewhat painful or uncomfortable for the beginner. It takes time to get use to doing them, but with a solid plan of action, those muscles will tighten up very quickly.
The gimmick of "5 minutes a day, 3 days a week!" is just a gimmick. The actual time you need to dedicate varies for everyone, and it varies depending on how quickly you want to tone up your abs. A 5 minute a day 3 times a week workout of the abs will give you some benifit, but slowly, and minimal at best. I personally work my abs about 4 days a week, for about 30 minutes a day, as part of a full workout routine. I don't really use any equipment aside from an abdominal machine at the gym. Most of my workout is done using crunches, situps, etc (And I use free weights to add resistance).
So the simple answer is: Yes, some ab machines will help you get abs, but the results depend entirely on how much effort you put into it. There's no magical fix. And watch out, some of them are more gimmick than truth.
Fitness companies know people want the "Easiest" way to workout possible, so instead of giving them the "best" way to work out, they market the "Easiest" because that's what sells. The easiest way, is very, very rarely the best way.

To get abs you need to do 15-20 weighted crunches, and do a 20 minute cardio workout 3x a week. A common mistake people do when trying to get abs, is they think they need to do 100's of crunches. Don't do that many. To build the muscle there, you need weight (or resistance works too). Hold a weight on your chest and do 15-20 reps. Do 3 sets of 15-20 reps at least 3x a week. You also have to work out your lower abs and obliques. You can do this by doing weighted reverse crunches and twist crunches. Target every area of your abs.When that weight becomes too easy and you feel you could do more crunches, don't do more, just increase the weight, or the resistance. Its also very important to do the cardio workout, because this will trim the fat in your midsection to reveal the abs. If you don't do the cardio, you could have rock hard abs, but they'll be hidden under a layer of fat. Most ab machines are a scam, and not necessary. It's easier (and cheaper), to use this method, and you'll see better results. Good luck!

As with all these machines the main part is diet. You can't pound down a pizza and then rock on the ab swing or whatever for 10 minutes and think your going to get a 6 pack. You need to diet a lot. A six pack is very hard to get and is basically dependent on your diet. I have strong abs but there is a little fat over the top so it doesn't give the appearance of a six pack. Don't waste your money.

I wouldn't waste my money on those ab machines. You should see my exercise room at home. I've got like 3 of those things and they don't even work for me. I mean, my stomach seems a little bit tighter but I don't have a 6 pack. I think you're better off just dieting and exercising.

Ab machines or crunches its all the same thing. You could do a thousand crunches a day and have a rock solid six pack but it will be under a layer of fat so you wont see it. The ONLY way to get rid of that fat is CARDIO (running, swimming...).

To be honest normal crunches if done right are the best. Inclined ramps are also great but a machine typically doesn't give you much of an advantage over normal exercise. Just an added cost. I say use an inclined ramp and hold extra weight to your chest and do crunches. Works great and you can slowly work yourself up to higher weights too.

It's gonna be up to you (to use it regularly) more than it is up to the ab machine. My guess is that 99% of the people who buy these things use them a couple of times and then put them in the basement. I'm guessing that doing alot of sit-ups everyday would work just as well.
