For me, it was very time consuming to do all the various food prep and recipes from the book although most of them tasted pretty good. It is high protein and low carb. Lots of veggies and meat and only whole grains after 3 weeks. The first round has no carbs at all to get you off your 'sugar addiction' and start revamping your metabolism. It is also hard to do solo - if your partner wants to do it, it will make things easier.

It is a low carb diet which is bad and here is why:

Carbs are the primary fuel source for the brain. They are also the only fuel source for the red blood cells and the kidneys.

Low carb diets increase the risk of hypoglycemia and are hard on the kidneys which have to do more work on less fuel.

Much of the weight loss is muscle and water. The lost muscle will lower your resting metabolic rate and make it harder to lose fat. If you lose any fat, it is because reducing carbs is simply reducing calories.

if you are commited and have the willpower it's not that hard to do. i have changed the way i eat around it and have lost 25lbs, my goal is to lose another 30lbs. i am currently 5'7" and 172lbs. take a look at the link below as a easy free guide. you might also consider buyin the book. don't forget to work out also, even if it's jus walkin for 30-40mins daily. good luck to you~!

you are only allowed to eat meat and veggies
no rice grain etc.
you are not even allowed to potatoes i think. there is a list of foods at southbeach.com
