straightening balm + heat protecting serum + large round ceramic brush + (tourmaline) blow dryer + some more silicone serum for finishing + hair spray to lock in the style
OR
heat protecting serum + ceramic flat iron + silicone serum for finishing + hair spray
OK, so you can either use a blow dryer or a flat iron. But using a good heat protecting serum is a must for you 'cause your hair is permed and hence vulnerable to heat damage.

Permed hair going straight.... well you can cut it- but I'm sure you won't like that idea. You can have it straightened, which is like putting the perm solution back onto your hair, but not putting it in perm rods, then going through all the other steps. Or you can Flat Iron it every day, which could cause a bit of damage, so make sure you put an oil based straightening product on it to Protect it from the heat. Any way you do it, your looking at more damage or shorter hair. (sigh) good luck

I can't stomach hair straighteners or hair destroyers as I call them. I'm lucky enough that my hair will take on whatever texture I let it air dry with the shower but my hair is naturally straight. I did perm once though and if you must use heat I suggest blowing it out. But dry in sections using a brush to stretch the hair straight. I suggest using a good straightening mousse (I like herbal essences- straighten up) and a straightening conditioner (I like thermasilk-you can get it at most Sally Beauty Supply stores)

I have naturally curly hair. So I understand what you're going through. Well Tresemme offers a straightening gel which is really good. You put it in your hair when it's damp and then let either air dry or blow dry it. Then use a straightener. The straightener that I recommend is Conair's Ceramic straightener. It has turbo heat so that it heats up faster and straightens hair better. And the gel is made especially to withstand heat, so it won't burn your hair.

Considering my sister has naturally curly hair (very, very curly)... I'm going to recommend you get a hair straightener/flat iron. Make sure it's one w/ ceramic plates... only those work best. They are expensive ($99 if lucky to get on sale, or $120 and up, Canadian dollars) but well worth it.
It'll work Excellent.
The brand I bought is Babyliss... I'd recommend that one for sure. Don't be tempted to get anything less expensive, such as what you find at Wal-Mart, etc... they don't work and you will have wasted your money.
Just remember you need 100% ceramic plates, which also keep away the static.
Get a wider plate unless you have short hair in which case a thinner plate will be good.
Good Luck!
Let me know your final decision!

Buy a straightening serum(u can buy at wal-mart---like the frizz ease brand or something) and put it in wet hair. Take a blow dryer & brush and brush hair in downward, straight motion while blow drying it until ur whole head is dry. You should have super straight hair. I just blow dry my hair, I dont use a straightening serum, and it turns out straight. But if you use a straightening serum, it should most definitely work, and work well.

Buy a straightener -and not a cheap one. The cheap ones will burn your hand and you will find your hair curly again before the end of the day. Get the most expensive you can stomach, or keep hinting to a loved one to buy you this as a present!

Have you tried Matrix shampoo and conditioner in the orange bottle? It helps maintain really unmanable hair.
