One of the reasons why there are these shoe battles out there is that there is no such thing as the "best running shoe ever". That is because everyone has different feet with different needs. Even finding a shoe perfect for your feet is not a trivial matter.

The best way to find the perfect shoes for you is to go to a shoe store that specializes in running shoes. As a soldier, you will need to run quite a lot, you so will need shoes with plenty of support. With more support, you will have to trade off flexibility, which is one of the "must's" that you listed. Even the shoes with the most support still have a great deal of flexibility, so I don't think that is a big concern. If you tell your needs at your local running shoe store, I'm sure they will help you find you a decent pair.

Some of the brands of shoes that you listed, Adidas, Reeboks, and Nike, make great products in general, but their running shoes are not known to be the best. You may wish to keep an open mind with New Balance and Asics because most serious runners that run marathons wear them. There are other brands that are commonly worn by these road warriors, but Adidas, Reeboks, and Nike generally are not popular brands with runners. Nike makes great commercials though.

Good luck finding "the best running shoe ever" for you.

it all depends on what kind of running you do.

sprinters need a different shoe than distance runners,
and track runners need a different shoe than road runners.

there is no single "best shoe" ever.
