Add a layer of Baked Beans to your usual recipe. that is on top of the meat, underneath the potato topping.
Another suggestion, use a jar or packet of Pasta Sauce mix to cook the meat in. Or Curry or Chillies.
These are all quick shortcuts, the best results are usually obtained by making your own sauce from scratch, but we don't always have time. Personally I make a basic sauce from minced beef and freeze it in portions, then make it up into a pasta dish or shepherds/cottage pie with the addition o appropriate herbs/spices/etc: EG. my husband hates pasta and garlic so he gets a jacket potato with the basic sauce and I add more garlic or chilli or herbs and have mine with pasta!

This is Gary Rhodes version of Sheperd's Pie which I use all the time. Its a bit time consuming, but worth it, in fact I've just made it for dinner.
675g lamb, minced
25g lamb or beef dripping
or 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
knob of butter
3 small onions finely chopped
3 carrots, diced
4 celery sticks, diced
1/2 tsp chopped fresh thyme
1/2 tsp chopped fresh rosemary
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tsp tomato puree
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp tomato ketchup
3 glasses of red wine
25g plain flour
200ml beef/veal jus or chicken stock
900g mashed potatos, made with very little butter or milk.
1. Season the minced lamb, then fry in batches in the dripping or the oil in a very hot pan to just seal and colour the meat, draining each batch in a colander.
2. In a separate pan, over a medium heat, melt the butter. Add the vegetable and herbs, and season with salt, pepper and cinnamon. Cook for 5-6 minutes until starting to soften.
3. Add the lamb, cook for a few minutes, then add the tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce and tomato ketchup and stir. Add half a glass of wine and reduce by three-quarters: repeat this process until all the wine has been used. Add the flour and cook for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add the jus or stock and bring to a gentle simmer, then cook for 1-11/2 hours. If the sauce becomes too thick add a little water, but don't let the sauce become to thin.
5. During the last 1/2 of cooking make the mash. Reduce the amount of butter and milk or cream you would normally use to give a slightly firmer topping.
6. Pre heat the grill. Spoon the mince into an ovenproof dish, then spoon or pipe the mash on top. Brush or dot some butter over the mash and grill until golden.

Mexican Shepherd's Pie
1 lb ground beef
1 1/4 ounces taco seasoning mix
2 cups canned corn niblets
2 lbs potatoes, peeled and diced
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Brown and drain ground beef.
Add taco seasoning to taste [we prefer a less spicy mix, so I only use half the envelope].
Add corn.
Meanwhile, boil potatoes until tender, then mash.
If you like, you can add butter and milk.
Spread about one third of the potatoes in a round 2 quart casserole dish.
Top with the ground beef mixture, then the cheese. Finish with the remaining potatoes.
To use right away, bake at 350 about 30 minutes.
To freeze, cover and freeze until solid. Lift out of casserole dish and wrap in foil. Place in zipper bag, label with name and date. Use within 3 months.
To reheat, unwrap and place in original dish, defrost completely. Bake at 375 for 40-45 minutes

Fry onion till soft, add minced meat, when meat has turned colour, add about a dessert spoon of flour , mix until flour is absorbed than add beef stock (oxo cube in hot water) . Cook for a bit, put in dish, top with mashed potatoes, with a fork make horizontal lines and vertical lines on top (just for appearance) put in oven for a bit. Keep it simple, less is more. .

Hands off our Shepherds pie! Yes, it should be made with minced lamb/mutton, but it absolutely doesn't have corn in it!
Add diced carrot to the mince and maybe some mushrooms, but not, NOT CORN!!

This is how I do it
I first layer the beef in the dish, then instead of regular kernel corn, I make homemade cream corn (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cream-Corn-Like-No-Other/Detail.aspx) and layer it on the beef. Then I make garlic whipped mashed potatoes and layer that. I also sprink a lot of shredded mild Cheddar cheese on the top. MMMMM it's a big hit in our house.

In the event that it's a fruit they have seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.
