Go to the Duncan Hines Website and there is a place for FAQ's. On there they have a way to detect the date used on the box and explain how to read the code.

Not sure about the codes, but cake mixes will be good almost forever. The only problem may be the baking soda or baking powder, whichever they use to make it rise, it could end up going flat on you. But I have used one after it sat on the shelf for a year and it came out fine. If there is an 800 phone # on the box, call and ask about the code.

Good luck!

Call them to decode the code. And contrary to what the other answerer said, they do not last almost forever. My sister emptied a cake mix in a bowl last year - and things started skittering around.... eeewww!
