I'm doing an 8 day tour of Bangkok, Vietnam and Cambodia. The tour price is £260 per person, and this covers transport and share accommodation. We do go to some of the famous sites, but this price does not cover entrance fees. What do you reckon?

You could save a little money doing it on your own but you would not see nearly so much. Tour operators usually hire knowledgeable guides and experienced drivers. They have routes and schedules planned so that you will get see much more than if you waste time figuring where to go and how to get there yourself.

Assuming it is a reputable tour operator, it sounds good to me.

It cannot possibly cover the flights between the UK and Thailand, surely? These are normally £300+ on their own.

I wouldn't worry about entrance fees too much - at least you know you won't be ripped off in that department. Just enquire about the hotels though - use TripAdvisor.com to read reviews on the hotels. Some tours use dumps.

Tours are generally cheaper booked locally, but as you have an international trip (ie Thailand and Vietnam and Cambodia) this is a little more tricky. Mind you, 8 days to see three countries? You will be spending at least a day of that 8 days just sitting in airports and aeroplanes, and another travelling to and from airports and tourist sites. I'd spend more time in each city and take it easy, rather than rushing around like a blue-arsed fly.

I think that's a good deal if it is including the airfare to & from UK and again to all those destinations. But please check the itinerary first whether you are over land from Mukdaharn's new Friendship Bridge (Thailand) and crossing the border to Laos and stay overnight on the coach overland to Vietnam? Again overland from Vietnam to Cambodia? Since there are many tour operators in Thailand are doing this kind of trips now.

Why not....once for your experience. Wishing you have a pleasant trip with this price.

Price sounds reasonable to me. You are spending almost 30 quids a day covering transport and accommodation already., not to mention the distance you will be traveling through the 3 countries. Plus paying for your own admission is not expensive. You can not pay and not visit if you want. So it is an option for you actually.

Do go and enjoy yourself. If the place is good, pay and visit. It will be worthwhile.

You are talking about GBP, almost double the amount in dollars. which is inclusive of fares to three countries and hotels for 7 nights? For $500 for 8 days, that's cheap!! Even just coming from the Philippines that is already very reasonable, how much more if you are coming from UK???

Thats a good price. Make sure it is inclusive of taxes and fees, and that the accommodations are at least decent (that they don't pack you into a room with 3 or more strangers.)

The price is cheap but you should consider WHAT KIND of service it includes. Transfer fee as a private car actually does not cost much more than taxi or a cab. However it is important to know what is your tour quality. No arranged transportation means cab drivers can rip you off anytime and no one can bargain for you.

Well, yes, that does sound reasonable with the advice that you get what you pay for... it sounds to me like a Khao Sarn Road type tour which is most appreciated amongst the young back packing set... it should be ok, but I would not expect luxury... have a good time!!

It's real cheap don't you think so? With this amount I can go only to Angkor Wat from Bangkok for a 3D 2N. Can I join your tour to Cambodia and Vietnam?
