that's a really tough situation to be in, but i'm sure most of us have been there. anyway, i don't know what your current relationship is like with that person, but i'd try at least being a friend to that person and just be patient. if you two are meant to be, then it'll happen.

Don't put your life on hold, first and foremost. Find someone else to date, because the "love" you speak of could turn out to be an infatuation or lust, and while you're waiting for that person you could miss out on something wonderful. My guy and I took three years to get together...I was with someone, then he was, then I was. Finally it all came together and we're getting married this summer.
If it's meant to be, it'll happen. Have faith and don't wait.

Leave them alone and look elsewhere. Why is it important to have someone not available? Are you afraid of a real relationship and therefore, have found someone to focus on that isn't available for a relationship? No chance at all for rejection, huh? Because they'll never know how you feel.

that is, by far, the hardest thing with love: You are allowed to love whoever you want, but so can he.
if he's dating someone and they've been together for a long time and they seem like they are in love, don't bother.
but if they're not, make yourself available, but don't seem to eager or needy. try getting to be friends with him while he's together with this person. then, if/when they break up, you will be there for him. then, hopefully, he will see that you are the one that stuck by his side and will realize how much he loves you! :D
remember, love is friendship on fire!!

You have to get on with your life. If they are dating someone else, they obviously don't feel the same way about you unfortunately.
You don't want to waste your time thinking about someone who is unobtainable.

Tell them how you feel and leave it up to them. If you have to wait then you know they arn't worth it.
