I found a Mazda5 sport, and test drove it and loved it!! I'm wanting it for expanding our family at the moment. When I went to the dealership yesterday, "they" dropped the price from 19,130 to 18,500. But I know that they can go way lower. Because when my mom and dad bought a van a few years ago, they were able to go from 26,000 to 21,000, so I know that they could go lower. What do I have to know about the vehicle to be able to go back into the dealership to work out a deal. I'm definitely bringing my husband and dad with me, because you know they cheat the girls. Even though I did have a lady salesperson helping me. Thx!

It mostly depends on how much you bring as a downpayment, or if you have a car you are going to trade in.

Both give you some wiggle room when it comes to negotiating.

Otherwise it is completely dependent on how desperate the place is to sell the car. There is probably a rock-bottom minimum they will take to still give themselves a profit. Be ready to walk away if they won't deal the way you want. It's a good idea to bring your husband and dad, even though they will try to cheat guys too - at least your pa is probably old enough to have been around the block a few times.

go to www.edmunds.com, under new vehicles, and enter the exact model & options you want. They will tell you the typical deal in your area, and what dealer invoice is. If you can bets the typical deal, you're doing well.
