Do not go for sweet you need some protein to help tide you over until supper. Your blood sugar is obivously dropping and causing this. Eat plenty of protein at lunch and opt for a snack high in protein mid afternoon. Try something like string cheese, yogurt or nuts.

There's carob, that's like chocolate but not as unhealthy.
OR you could have a couple of hershey's kisses. I said a couple, not a handful... That will get your chocolate craving (if you suck on them not chew) and you'll be fine as far as calories go.
You could also eat sugar cubes. I do that or a packet of starbucks sugar (the brown one.) Crunchy and oh so sweet! But for most people it's way too sweet.
you know? that other person said a banana...why don't you try banana with hersheys kiss? you take a nibble of a kiss and then two, three bites of banana. Then a little more of the kiss, and two, three bites of banana...that way, you get your stomach fuller and you get a chocolate kick too. Of course, this only works if you like bananas. Try other fruit too though. :)

My coworkers and I keep fruit snacks and granola around. When we totally need a bit of chocolate we go dark. We keep very good, somewhat expensive dark chocolate around. You can get them at your local Whole Foods or Trader Joes...or whatever is your equivalent. That way you get the bit of sweet, but it also has some health benefits as well.

It is probably the caffeine you are missing. A small piece of dark chocolate isn't really that bad if you can keep it to a small piece. Stay with dark chocolate as it is better for you too, it is high in antioxidants.

Well, one thing that really works good for controlling hunger pangs is a tall glass of cold water. A lot of times you'll find that your stomach sends mixed signals, and sometimes when it really wants water, it makes you want food. Next time you have one of these hunger pangs, try it out and wait five minutes to see if you're really hungry.

Fruit would be the obvious thiung but its not as nice.
Try a real dark chocolate as you won't neeed as much of it and is lower in fat.
