No, but I bet we have the most "Haters" of tattoos. I bet in other countries body art is not only less judged, but well appreciated.

Well, we're a moderately large nation, so we have the benefit of size. Anyone is free to get tats as opposed to whatever religious or social requirements, opening up a larger percentage of the population. There's the stupid social stigma, but we're a dynamic nation that has built in mechanics to fix flaws. "We hold these truths as being self evident", indeed. *That's* what makes this a great place: the ability to perpetually improve. How many nations' constitutions were inspired by ours? Geez, when we were a teeny tiny little world power, the French gave us a frickin' cool gigantic statue they liked us so much.

*Ahem*, sorry. Got off on a rant.

However, as mentioned by others, per capita (among other things) is higher. Might be interesting to know the total square inches of ink in any given country.

Question for the day, boys & girls - how many square miles of tattooed skin is there in America? I suspect that's not something I can just google; a first.

You know, this can turn into a rant don't you? I love my country and all, but some of the best artists, and biggest scenes are not in America. France and Germany (Europe in general) have large tattoo scenes. I guess, being that America is so big , we may have the most tattooed people though.

america sure has a load of great artists, and a lot of tattooed people, but you are a country with a huge poulation. Figures as a percentage of the population would be interesting. Here in the uk, although a small country in comparison, has a huge tattooed mix of residents, and i'm sure our European neighbours love their body mods as much as we do, its something we ALL have in common, regardless of nationality

I don't know, but I know that we are probably the most unoriginal with our tattoos. So many people have butterflies, and meaningless markings.......ANYWAY, alot of 3rd world countries use tattoos in their culture and heritage. I saw on the discovery channel how this island nation (can't remember the name) tattooed the face of the girls when they became of age. Each woman had specific tattoos designed for her.

Actually, we do not have the most tattoos per capita. It would have to be somewhere in Europe.

On the other hand, over in Europe, 90% of the ink work in in black and grey, with very little use of color at all.

I think the USA kicks *** no matter what, though!!
