It's not a bad thing for them to be a little bit underweight, as long as they're eating. It's easier on their joints! If it's only 5-10 lbs, I wouldn't worry about it. As she gets older, she'll probably fatten up without your help. Besides, breed standards for weight aren't necessarily a "goal." You're always going to have variation from that.

Why do you think she is underweight? Did your vet tell you because if that is the case the vet should have told you how to safely put a few pounds on her. If you think this just because of the Bulldog standard, it is just that, a standard. I know female that range from 35 pounds to 70 pounds and are neither too skinny or too fat. It all just depends on the dogs frame. For example, my female has a very small frame and is a petite little girl and weighs around 36-40 pounds which is perfect for her frame. I also know someone who has a very large framed and stout female that weighs around 65 pounds but is st the perfect weight for her frame. Your best bet is if your vet isn't the one who told you this, take her in and ask the vet what they think about her weight and if they think she needs to gain some weight.

Get her to the vet and get her an exam. Have her tested for parasites and make sure she doesn't have any metabolic issues. 5-10 lbs is a lot for a dog to be underweight. Give her the best quality dog food (Science Diet or something else a vet recommends). You should be able to feel her ribs with your hand, but they should be padded.

Look for a high protein dog food but I wouldn't let her get to fattened up. If you feed her the good high protein dog food and exercise her regularly she will gain muscle.

i think you should consult a doctor first. And it takes a lot of patience to do this. Of course, there is money involved. And for the mean time, buy a liver spread and mix it with his food. note: don't give large amount of food at the same time and nver feed him continuously for one day. then, regularly consult the doctor. if there is a prescribed medicine or treatment for your dog then, of course, do as what the doctor says.
