Well, friend, you have 2 problems.
Number 1.....Chinese food is LOADED with sodium......virtually all of their dishes are at or above the recommended daily allowance. This means that you are getting way too much salt if you eat more than once a day, and this has a direct bearing on blood pressure and hypertension (high blood pressure).
Number 2......those machines in the store that read blood pressure are notoriously incorrect. I used to use those, and thought I had a great blood pressure reading....until the day that I used one about an hour before seeing my doctor. While the machine said I was fine, the doctor showed an extremely high reading. He started monitoring me, and low and behold........I have hypertension. I am now on meds to couteract it, but those machines still give bad readings more often than not, so I wouldn't trust them.
If you are seriously interested in finding out if the food is affecting you, I would suggest going by your local fire department both before AND after eating a meal there. Do this a few times. They will check your pressure for free, and it will be far more accurate than that machine could dream of being.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

A typical Chinese Dish is a sea of nutritional no-nos, a consumer group has found. A plate of General Tso's chicken, for example, is loaded with about 40 percent more sodium and more than half the calories an average adult needs for an entire day. So, yes sodium is a big no- no in high blood pressure

There is actually an article on the Yahoo homepage today about how bad Chinese food is for you...lol. It's the saltiest food that you can eat w/o eating a bunch of direct salt, and salt makes your blood pressure go up.

Chinese food from restaurants generally has a lot of sodium content, so, yes, it can increase your blood pressure. You might want to cut down to once a month or so. I know what you mean though. It is hard to stay away from.

depending on your age and body weight stuff like that is how the dr.. determines what your blood pressure should be. if you are an average size and an adult then that is probably not a high reading. also any food with a lot of salt will increase your blood pressure.

We all know CHinese food is bad for you. That is a given. However, there is hope!
Each restaurant should have a diet menu. This menu should be no cholesteroal, no MSG (that is key) low fat and sodium, and steamed veggies, meats and seafood, and rice. Then they usually come with a homemade garlic sauce. Different places might have a different menu.
Plus, it doesnt make you feel like crap after you eat it! Try it, you will like it. It might not taste the same, but if you must have chinese food, then try it. You only have better health to gain. Good luck!

Chinese food is getting a bad rap. Chinese food found in WESTERN restaurants is bad for you. True chinese cuisine is very healthy. Western countries tend to overeat, way overeat and smother everything in salt and/or sugar.
