It depends where it was purchased. Some stores such as Argos can recognise their products from a code. So you will be able to return it.

no, you need some proof you bought it from them..
they will have proof but they will say they dont have becasue if they refund they will lose money and customers will think they sell bad products
so any proof you bought from them will work
