When used once in a while, yes. It does get the gunk out, if you use a lot of products.

I've had good luck with Suave clarifying shampoo. I wear a volumizer and a freeze spray in my hair everyday, so this does help clean my hair. I do change shampoos once in awhile.

At first it does totally leave ur hair skeaky clean. but used too frequently i find that it tends to dry the roots out real bad
