There is no specific age at which it becomes impossible to re-allign teeth, not at all.
As people grow much older...let's say (only say) about age fifty and the body growing cycle reverses, the ability for their body to work to compensate for change and healing also takes a turn to reverse. Bone density, skin rejuvination and immune system are but a few of which I am sure you are aware of.
When very young, a gap between teeth caused by a lost tooth, such as a wisdom tooth, can actually be filled by moving the two teeth on either side of the gap to fill the gap.
When much older, the jaw bone cannot accept this much movement and is reason for older folks having "bridgework" teeth installed and oftentimes "root canal" to embed a false tooth right into the jaw bone.
To be more direct to your question...there is no age limit for straightening teeth with use of braces but only a time limit for when moving teeth is impractical. The age factor can vary per individual accordingly to their own body abilities. In just about all situations, the orthodontist makes the decision based on his / her experience and abilities.

Like everyone has written before me, there isn't an age limit. However as you get older...it is harder to move teeth. If the bad bite is created by a jaw problem (example would be your jaw being smaller than it should be) it is easier to correct while you are still growing. Once your growth plates have fused it is much harder to correct these problems (In the example above you would have to either remove teeth or do surgery to correct the bite)

There is no certain age, but once your teeth are completely solid in your mouth, and not going to move, thats when braces dont work as well as in comparison to when youre 13. Get what im saying? [I would say around college is when they wont start working as well]
