I went back to the gym on tuesday. I was stiff yesterday, but today is much worse. My legs are so stiff and sore I can barely walk. You can forget about picking things up off the floor.

I managed a gym for a few years and that is totally normal. Take some Ibuprofin if you can, it's an anti-inflamatory.

It is totally normal to feel the worst 2 days after working out.

Here is what I recommend: stretch gently every day, including today :) On workout days, pay special attention to the muscles you are going to focus on. Gently stretch, but focus on what you are doing, think about how you are working the muscle.

Next, do a 10 min warmup on the stairs or the treadmill, it gets your whole body more ready for that workout!

Lastly, work different muscles on different days. For exmple, bis and tris one day, legs and abs the next. You will stop feeling so sore in no time, promise!

A hot tub or sauna always works for me, but if you can't do that then you should do some very light exercise to get your muscles warmed up and then do some stretching exercise. Stiff and sore is quite common after taking long breaks away from the gym.
