I'm trying to research for a screenplay. This person ends up under a sectioning order. Would he be on a suicide watch in A and E? woulda social worker visit? A phyciatrist or phycologist? Would a suicide attempt be enough for him to be sectioned?

Well in my personal experience one suicide attempt does not get you sectioned. a family member of mine tried twice the first time she threw herself under a train then she hung herself, then she was sectioned but only for two weeks she had a social worker a psychiatrist and was on suicide watch and still managed to hang herself again.

He would be kept in a secure ward.

He would be on suicide watch at least at first.

He would have a session with a social worker.

He would have a session with two psychiatrists (plus the previous social worker) to determine the correctness of sectioning him.

Yes.

hmmm... Why would none of these things happen in Britain I wonder? In the USA it does make you get on the trip to the hospital and psychiatric wards...

I would imagine in Britain it'd be similar but I have no idea...

In other countries you just get shot, as if to say, well since you wanted to die anyway. BAM! No questions asked. Some places aren't compassionate you see and they don't see it as a cry for help the fact that you failed...

He would be thrown in prison and be under arrest for "Public Disturbance". After spending time on jail, he/she would be sent to a therapist.
