Im 18 and 38FF cup and i really despise my chest [medical reasons, bad back at 18, clothes don't fit, unwanted attention, lost alot of weight so they don't look good etc] when im older and have more money i want to get a breast reduction/uplift.
I have seen before and after photos of this surgery and the scarring is pretty bad looking, is there a way to correct it after the surgery or have any treatment to reduce scarring or would i just have to wait a couple of years for it to fade?

[I am aware of the risks, i have talked to parents, bf, doctors etc about the decision to have the surgery in the first place and im not asking about that and not looking for the 'be happy with your body' comments, anyone who has any helpful info i would really really appreciate it, thanks =) ]

Hi there!!
I had a breast reduction surgery 3 years ago and went from a 40G to a 36C. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself! The change in activity level and self confidence is amazing. I'm a totally different person.

Your insurance may pay for it if you're having back problems...I had BCBS and they did.

Most of the before and after pics you see are taken pretty soon after the surgery before the scars have healed all the way which can take a year or more. I have a tendency to scar easily but my breast scars now are barely noticable. Vitamin E rub will help only if you're very consistant in applying it over the course of several months or longer. (I never had the discipline to apply it every day)

Very good luck to you.

Vitamin E, it worked for my ex partner when he had to have finger reattachment surgery and tendon surgery. Other than that eat healthy to nourish your skin from the inside as well. Oh and I've heard maderma might work.

Also to address some of your other stuff, you may want to go to a bra shop in your area and get fitted for a bra. I've heard of women having some success with finding a really well fitting bra to help their back pain. I'm not saying this to get you out of surgery, but it's something to consider until you have enough to do the surgery.

Oh and maybe see if there's forums or groups online that are for women that've had breast reductions, that'd give you someone to ask about the time it takes for scars to fade.

Best of luck.

Scarring is not as horrid as people think it is. Those pictures you looked at, depends on several things... how long after surgery it was (Mine looked nasty for several months after surgery), how well the doctor did to close the incisions, and the post op care of the incisions.

I had a reduction with lift Feb 2006 and my scars are 95% gone.

Mederma, ScarGuard, and Palmers Scar Serum helped me a lot with getting my scars to fade. As well as massaging them.

Insurance WILL pay for your surgery. Look into your healthcare plan and find a PS in your network. If you go out of network you will pay more out of pocket for surgery. My insurance paid 100% of my surgery costs.

Scarring takes up to a year for them to fade. DO NOT put them in the sun (even a swimsuit!) or they will turn permanently red!

Check out the link below, it helped me out tons before and after surgery. Especially the photo board, totally worth it!

The best way to reduce scarring is in the doctors hands. Do your research and find a doctor that knows what they are doing.

You back pain is a valid symptom for getting a breast reduction, it will be covered by insurance company. You must have it done by a plastic surgeon! Know patients who have it done plastic surgeons, very happy with the results, very little scaring. Good luck to you....
