I have been excercising since september of 2006 at a gym. I just recently changed my eating habbits, and I know that my eating habbits were the reason I wasn't loosing weight. My question is, what are some good excercises I can do to loose my belly pooch and my large thies? I do at least 30 minutes of cardio excercises a day, like tred mill, walking, and elepticle machines, and I also do about 150 sit ups on the crunch machines. Is there anything else I should be doing or am I on the right track? Any suggestions?

You're on the right track. I think you should increase your cardio to 45-60 minutes per day. Running on a treadmill would be best. Regarding crunches for your abs.... alternate exercises. Do variable exercises like reverse crunches, sit ups, stability ball, etc. Make sure to do them nice and slow.

Also, eat low-fat food with protein. That should help you shed those unwanted pounds.

Good luck!

You are on the right track, but there are other things to do. If you increase body metabolism you'll increase fat burning. Best way to do this is drink a sugar-free energy drink before your workout.

Remain hydrated during your workout. Use water or diet, caffeine-free soda.

Your "at least 30 minutes of cardio exercises a day" is perfect. Continue with that.

Do not perform situps at all. It is unclear whether you are doing situps or crunches. Crunch machines are useless and if anything will make your belly larger. The best way to perform a crunch is simply lie on the floor with legs elevated to take stress off your back. Suck your stomach in as you curl up like a snail, raising the shoulder blades off the floor.

Jenna,

Unfortunately, there is no way to target the fat on your legs. It's something people have always wanted to do, so it is a popular myth, but the body doesn't work that way. You can do a ton of sit-up and crunches and it won't do a thing to reduce the belly pooch. This is because those exercises will strengthen the muscle underneath. They will not burn the fat that is covering the muscle.

The body burns fat in its own, pre-determined order. Working crunches burns calories, but the fuel for those calories can come from anywhere on your body.

Therefore, the only way to reduce your belly pooch is to continue to trim fat. Your body may burn the fat there last, which means you may need to shed quite a bit of fat before you see a difference there.

Performing cardio is a great start. However, cardio is not the only element for losing fat. Unfortunately, another myth many people fall for is the idea that cardio burns the most fat. It's simply not true - the most potent fat burner is the combination of cardio and resistance training. This study illustrates the point - if you do 30 minutes of cardio versus 15 minutes of resistance plus 15 mintues of cardio, even though you spend the same total workout time (30 minutes) you'll burn over twice as much fat doing resistance training as well:

You are now heading in the right direction. I used to do 500 situps a day and still would see no improvement. It all came when I changed my diet and started eating healthy. You probably have the abs you want, they are just covered up with the fat. You have to get your body fat percentage down in order to see your abs. I was told by my personal trainer, for females, they need to get a body fat percentage in the lower teens in order to see their abs. If you do not have a measuring tool that lets you measure your body fat percentage, it is good to get one. That way you can actually see your losses and gains. You can get some good, inexpensive ones off the internet. It's very hard to get accurate reading by only using your weight gain or weight loss.

Good luck and keep going!!!

In addition to maintaining good nutrition, train the whole body because we cannot spot reduce. If identical twins had the same eating habits (good habits) and one trained nothing but abs while the other trained everything except abs, the one who trained everything except abs is more likely to have "six pack" abs.

Here are some links to info on fat loss along with a weekly workout.

Hmm..good I am the nurse for the Verchina Expert. I gets you scheduled for an appointment. Sounds like you've got a verchina drawback brewing. In the period in-between, give up the motorcycle so I can thoroughly investigate cross-check it and notice what the hindrance is. I could have got to hold onto it although, for scientific study functions of path.

loosing fat is not they way you think.working out a part of your body just works out the muscles of that part.fat is the energy amounts that your body stores for you to have energy when needed.and every body stores it in a different place!you must take all the energy needed from food so that your body won't need to store any energy and eat only as much you NEED so your body won't have extra food to store.step to is loosing the fat you already have by having aerobic exercise-not just aerobicS-but aerobic,running,walking,step,cross-training or any sport that makes you move for over 45 daily!

good luck

Cardio alone will not make you tone. You need to add weight lifting and core exercises. If you have a stability ball, they work great.
