WHOA!! I understand the emotions that make folks want to continue a fight once they have been in it. I hungered to return to war when I was younger, I craved it, yet I also recognized the damage it did to many of my friends' families. (I, a young Infantry Captain at Ft Bragg, visited several fellow officers' young widows in the 60s and 70s immediately after they got the 'death notification'.)
All of you have done a fine job over there and I salute your dedication, sacrifice and bravery. You did win your portion of this battle! I admire your desire to continue to be of aid there. BUT, this battle is beyond the point where we, US forces, can stabilize it permanently. This is because of the history of that area of the world and currently our presence alone causes more people to choose the wrong side. Even if we stay in force or increase forces more, something will happen in Iraq in 10,20 or 40 more years. It is best to just leave, save a few of you that may otherwise be killed or wounded and allow the legal Iraqi government to fight its own battle now. We can give them adequate air support and help them stabilize their own country without risking you brave young guys.
We need your kind within our own country to participate fully in our internal politics too.
