I am going this afternoon but do not know where to start, I don't want to have another panic attack, I can feel it building. I am on meds for anxiety and have started to remember chunks of my life that were missing before, causing even more pain and anxiety.

Before you go in breathe deeply to relax yourself and remember why you are doing this. If you feel the urge to harm yourself try holding an ice cube in your hand. This has the same painful effect without the scars. Alternatively if you enter the room and find that you can not talk to him then show him the scars. He will understand what you mean and will be very sympathetic and understanding. Good luck!

They probable won't do something approximately it yet they might refer you to somebody else (therapist and so on). i might get it taken care of as quickly as conceivable. i'm 22, used to self injury on my larger left arm while i replaced into in my toddlers. It did help me cope, yet there are some distance extra effective approaches. because of the fact i do unlike human beings seeing the scars, I now might desire to flow swimming in T-shirts on holiday and might't flow to the gymnasium. would it help to write it down vs. vocalizing it? You can try writing a journal, that always helps.

Then you can either hand it to him/her or have someone show it to him/her.

I know it sounds scary but the doctor is there to help you. There are other places you can get help too, not just there.

Focus on the idea of getting help, not on who you're telling. Think of him/her as someone with an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. That might make it easier for you to talk about it.

My guess is s/he'd refer you to a clinic or some kind of therapy. They're good and it helps. :)

Would it help to write it down on a note and just hand it to him? You could tell him you are really concerned the meds aren't working. Would it help to bring someone with you who knows about this situation and that person could tell him?

It doesn't matter how you tell your doctor. Just tell your doctor in plain language that you have self-harmed, and the sooner the better.
