That is definitely a possibility. Bipolar disorder does run in the genes.

My father-in-law is bipolar and one of his sons shows definite signs of being bipolar. His other son is Paranoid Schizophrenic. He also shows signs of the bipolar disorder as well.

It is possible. You should read up on Bipolar Disorder and be prepared for the possibility.

i'm pretty sure that mental disorders are SOMEWHAT genetic, but it's plausible that the baby will have no mental defects. sometimes the baby doesn't inherit any trace of a parent's problem. other times it may. it mostly just depends on the baby's ehavior as it gets older. may want to consult a psychologist.

ok this is where it gets phsychological.... it depends upon the nurture- nature debate... i believe it could get passed down egnetically. if not, your child is still at risk. Children learn from their parents so if he's manic and then depressed, the child might take it on this way.Seek help. Good Luck.
