Of course it is. Just look at their tirades against homosexuals. They do it all the time for that purpose, and that's okay. Selective application fo the rules, in other words...do as I say, not as I do.

I think I would prefer the well-versed atheist to take the Bible out of context than the Christian. The atheist has no true reason to fully know the Bible or believe in its meaning, the Christian 'should' know and understand their own holy and sacred text and be able to put it into perspective rather than just use verses to prove any weird idea that they have.

its not ok for a Christian to a bible out of context that is changing Gods word. if he meant that he would of written that way people do it all the time and it is sin. don't you remember the verse in Revelation that saids something him that take away the books of bible I will add to plagues of this book. you also can't add cause he will take you out of the book of life if you doing this stop. you getting into some dangerous territory with God.

Absolutely not; however, this is the reason why we Christians have so many denominations.
There is a difference between truly taking a verse out of context in order to maliciously attack Scripture and failing to understand it, thus ensuring its misapplication. In my observation, atheists typically (but not always) fall into the first category and Christians typically (but not always) fall into the second.

It is never okay for anyone to take the bible out of context. If someone is doing this on purpose, shame on them. I believe that the holy bible is true and right. I also believe that because we are human (that goes for chirstians too) , that we can take the bible out of context. A person might trully believe what they say concerning it. That is why we must ask God to reveal his word to us. We must never only listen to what a person or even a preacher says about the bible, we must study it ourselves and ask God to reveal his word to us and really seek his truth. God will reveal his truth in many ways, through the bible, through a person, through many avenues can God reveal himself and his word. I don't care who a christian is, they are not always 100% right concerning the word. When I go to church, if something is said or happens that does not line up with the word of God, I just know in my heart not to believe that. Everyone is human, everyone will have a different opinion concerning some things. In the bible though there are some obvious things that can not be misunderstood, such as how we should live if we want to go to heaven. If a person is a true christian, they will not hibitually keep on sinning, they will make every effort to change there lifestyle to please God and his word. A person must believe that God is, and that his son is Jesus Christ, ask him into their life, ask for forgivness of sin and they will be saved. After a person is saved, they will start to make changes in thier life to please God and to follow his word. A true christian does not hibitually keep on sinning. Not that they don't sin, but they will make every effort to not make it apart of there lifestyle.

NO. BOTH ARE Spiritually Ignorant and do not understand God's Word. That is the problem today, especially with these so called Super Preachers. They are leading people straight to Hell in a hand Basket and do not even know it, BUT Ignorance is NO EXCUSE when we have the Word of God to read and learn from. I am NOT judging no one, but am only stating what God has said about it. IF someone goes to church to be fed the Word of God, and they are NOT being fed the Truth, it is their DUTY to go where the Word is taught and taught RIGHT. The best place to start to be fed is with the Word of God, as everything that is required is written by Holy men of God, Sent FROM God, AND Inspired by the Holy Spirit, which was sent for God to lead them and teach them so we may have that Word to read and learn.

There are many Christians would argue that because the Holy Spirit fills them, they can say the Bible says whatever they want it to say, and they are more accurate than someone else using it in context.

No. The Bible is all about balance. Once something is taken out of context, that balance is lost. Christian example: preachers who preach that if you have enough faith you'll never be sick or you'll have a lot of earthly prosperity. Faith is a GOOD thing. BUT, taken out of balance it is not. Those doctrines are not backed up by Scripture.

Thank for your confession, my son, but a well versed atheist wouldn't care what anyone thinks and wouldn't care one bit what the Bible says or doesn't say.
If you don't believe in God or the Bible why would you have to keep trying to disprove something that you don't believe to be there in the first place?

As long as they're from whichever brand of christianity it is that turns out to have God on there side.
Gee............the odds don't look good for any of them.
Do atheists really get it out of context too?
