Hi lonelyt,
I almost always read the other answers first before I put my 2 cents in and this time am in total shock for the drippin' sarcasm on the issue. However, I don't think they really get your question and honestly, neither do I. In general, why should there be a health issue for not having children? If it is something you and hubby both decide together, you should be fine. I see children as a blessing (am the mother of a now 15 yr. old boy and he's the light of my life) but not everyone shares my view. It's a personal preference, that's it! In any case, on the health issue, there are more positives than negatives if you, for whatever reason, decide against having baby(ies). If you are asking about the emotional decision, it could go either way later on in life. You sound young, and if that is the case, you can always change your mind on the baby issue later. For right now, if you are happy with just you and your husband (without children), then don't worry what advice "well meaning" family has for you. It's ultimately a decision that you two have to make and live with. Hope this gives you a little insight on the issue. Either way, be happy and enjoy the time the two of you have together. MsB.

There's a theory floating around that it might be good for you, and might make you live a lot longer. It goes on the idea that the longer you wait to breed the longer you get to live, because one of the things in life that we are supposed to do is breed. It also says that if you have kids very late in life that they'll live even longer, same with each generation after.

Anyhow, the only health issue is the odd bit of stress from annoying people getting in your business. You can probably quiet them down by telling them that you aren't "able to have kids."

I have heard that your chances of getting ovarian cancer are higher if you never have children. There is, however, a simple blood test that you can have done yearly at your annual gynecologist visit to screen for this. It will not be done automatically so please insist that they do it, especially if there is any family history. Good luck and try not to feel bad if people do not agree with your decision. It is hard for us to imagine how other people could not want kids, but I admire those who are strong and stick with what they believe in. It is so much better than those who have children to fit in with society but never truly wanted them. The children always feel that! Good luck to you and your husband!

do you mean mental health? If so, then no you are perfectly healthy. I am a mother of three and love being a mommy, but totally have respect for people who chose not to go that route!

Your mental health should get a boost, since you won't have teens to deal with later.

You mean you both do not want children? That's your privilege. Ignore what anyone says, they envy the quality time you two get to spend together

There are many consequences for not having children. They include having more money, having more free time and less stress.

Nope, enjoy each other...you'll have plenty of time. That's your decision and don't listen to the naysayers.
