I have tried the software center to reinstall the software, but it will not install like there is a block on it, will not download. I have disable the anti-virus software ane the problem exist. Windows XP service pack 2 is my OS. Cannot get the software to uninstall either.

You can only access the windows updates using Internet Explorer. If the browser you are using IS in fact Internet Explorer, then there could be a spyware program blocking your access to the windows updates website.

if you go to Microsoft updates you must us Internet explore no other browser will work
re-enable your anti-virus for your protection don't try to uninstall sp 2 it's an important update

You have to have internet explorer for the updates. GL
